Ocarina of Time - oneshot
Another fic crossposted from ao3, partially in honor of oot’s birthday! Man oh man do I adore that game. Poor traumatized Link though... at least he’s got Epona with him :)
————————————————————
Rain dripped down Link’s face, causing his bangs to lay sodden across his eyes.
Water snuck down his collar as he traveled down the road, the droplets leaking in no matter how tight he had it cinched. All of him was soaked pretty much completely through— he wasn’t sure why he was bothering to try and keep it out. Epona plodded steadily through the rain under him, not even a neigh of complaint escaping her as the rainfall grew heavier, making it rather difficult to see.
Her hoof suddenly slipped in a puddle that had been deeper than it looked, and she whinnied in surprise, Link immediately pulling her back. He gently stroked her neck and soothed her as she shied, keeping his voice gentle.
“Ssh, hey girl it’s okay,” he murmured, blinking the rain out of his eyes.
Duck Newton (for headcanon ask)
Headcanon A: realistic
ACE DUCK ACE DUCK ACE DU
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
Duck has a chronic case of Being The Protagonist. He dyes his anime blue hair the most normal brown he can find. Magical items practically drop into his lap on a regular basis. (Kepler flea shops are rumored to hold many... unusual wares, but nobody sees the local forest ranger dropping them off weekly). He’s even had to fend off several advances from several different damsels in distress (in denial, he wearily tells himself that this is just the ugly side of the forest ranger job). Yeah, Minerva picked him as the Chosen One as random, but considering Duck’s history, could it really have been anyone else???
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
The days Duck spends as the mundane are days that are a blur of pain. He’s always been Duck Newton, Guy who’s Hard to Kill. He’s not used to being hurt. But once he loses his armor, he realizes that he’s completely desensitized to the everyday experiences of life. Now, every breath feels like he’s inhaling glass. He tries not to grimace with each step. His head pounds constantly, so loud that he struggles to hear when people are talking to him. His friends don’t know- he makes sure of that. After all, this is his own weakness. He’s just failing to deal with what every regular human feels every day of their lives... right?
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.
Duck’s cat is one of the quantum kitties a la TAZ grad. The reason it never appears in an episode is that it has a questionable relationship with existence itself. Duck pretends not to notice. “This is normal,” he says. The cat meows in agreement, and then phases through a wall.
Thanks!!!!
@missmeggo929 tagged me in this -- I’m a little afraid of the first question.
1. How many works in progress do you have?
8 active WIP, 2 or 3 that I’m jotting down notes/ideas on/for. And by ‘active’ I mean I sit down in the computer think about which one I should work on and then panic at the fact that I have 8 active stories and end up not working on any. Or just writing three sentences on three or four of them. Yes at the same time. To say I have ‘writer’s block’ sounds so passive for something that involves so much stress and self-recrimination.
2. Do you/would you write fan fiction?
All fan fiction, all the time. I am remarkably devoid of original ideas.
3. Do you prefer paper books or ebooks?
e-books for reading in bed, paperbacks for reading in the bath.
4. When did you start writing?
I made an attempt at writing a romance novel in my early twenties. Started writing fanfiction after I got married and started homeschooling the miss pens which gave me a lot of time sitting at the computer while they worked on assignments.
5. Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with?
I’m horrible about showing people my work though I tend to bounce ideas off of people if I’m struggling with a story point. @missmeggo929, @zendelai, and @lunardaisydoodles have been wonderful sounding boards.
6. Where is your favorite place to write?
We’ve got a table in the space which is labeled a ‘breakfast nook’ that we jokingly call our internet cafe because it’s where we all have our computers set up. I’ve got really comfy red velvet chairs (because why shouldn’t kitchen table chairs be plush and red velvet?).
7. Favorite book as a child?
Harold and the Purple Crayon when I was little. Narnia, all the Wizard of Oz books and anything by Louisa May Alcott when I was a little older.
8. Writing for fun or publication?
Right now for fun. Maybe someday I’ll be brave enough to attempt publication.
9. Have you taken any writing classes?
Never.
10. What inspired you to write?
Dragon Age. Filling in all those moments in between that we don’t see in game.
Tagging @lumateranlibrarian, @zendelai, @scahill42 and anyone else who wants to do it.
I think you're really cool and funny and a good writer
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you omg :000
Yay the first love triangle is resolved, the roommate has fallen for the guy afterall (after some very cringey scenes of him not letting her tell him to stop...), and now has been replaced by one where some girl has a crush on her teacher but he’s started dating another teacher and now she’s trying magic...
"Please don't be sad."
Opening her eyes, she couldn't help but smile a little at the tiny fairy hovering in front of her eyes. She looked down at the hands in her lap, which were wet with tears. She had cried so much she felt disembodied.
The fairy flew into her hands, holding her thumb and trying to get her attention. "Everything'll be okay."
"How can it be when I feel like this..?" The girl sighed and got up from her desk, walking over to her bed and collapsing.
"I know you know it will," The fairy said, "I'm your subconscious, remember?"
What if a tupla wasn't harmful? It would be kinda cool, someone to always be there for you, cheer you up when you can't do it yourself... It could be anything as well, an animal even. It would be interesting...
Edit: This is just after reading a creepypasta on a tulpa and not understanding much about them.
i want to be a writer i think, but how do you even make a career out of that? idek tbh
