how did Alex feel when Zane lost the first round of the obviously rigged tournament

Oh, she was pissed.

Alex immediately suspected that Zane's match against Zur was rigged, so when he lost she was not at happy at all. So much so, that much later on in the tournament when she ends up in a match against Zur, she decides she's going to do everything possible to win. Not just to stay in the games, but more or less on principle fighting for her husband's honour.
