I shouldn't get technical since it's a film about a giant motherfucking shark and a huge bloody octopus, but doesn't the ice crystals, like, crush the cells, so that living things frozen in ice... dies? Turn into mush? Like stuff you put in the freezer- they become all soft when they're defrosted. Solid carbon dioxide, dry ice, is one thing, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't work with normal ice...
