……….wait, sorry, what?? that’s how the head writer of this episode explains Party Thor??

I know it’s getting old for Loki fans to grumble about how Marvel’s trying to retcon the first Thor movie or newer writers literally didn’t watch the older movies or whatever but. like. in this case I really have to ask if she watched the same movie I did, where Thor was very, very obviously the brother who rushed headlong into trouble, and Loki was the one who…didn’t, at least not in the same way.

I mean. Loki brought Frost Giants in because he knew Thor would blow up about it and do something reckless that would get him in trouble with Odin! (yes, Loki did plant the idea of disobeying Odin and going to Jotunheim to confront Laufey, but barely, because what he actually said was “we shouldn’t,” and Thor absolutely ran with it.) we have two different scenes where Odin and Thor are yelling at each other while Loki hangs back and says nothing, and nobody acts like that’s uncharacteristic of anyone! Loki attempted to smooth things over with Laufey when they actually reached Jotunheim, and the battle only happened because Thor decided “run home, princess” was an insult worth killing over! Sif tells Loki to convince Odin to let Thor come home, which kinda seems to indicate there’s a history of Loki stepping in to be diplomatic when Thor does something dumb! we did all see this stuff, right?

like...arguably, I guess it’s mostly fanon that Loki was the quieter one who cleaned up Thor’s messes...but that’s a very reasonable understanding based on what we actually see onscreen, right? especially because it fits with the fact that his actions in the first movie seem to come out of nowhere for everyone else? don’t we, in fact, have equally relevant Word of God from the first movie that Loki tried very hard to be a dutiful son, right up until the revelation of his heritage when he snapped? and as far as Thor himself is concerned, that was kind of the entire point of his first movie, that he was arrogant and reckless and irresponsible, and only being banished taught him how to be a hero, right??? we…we all agree on that part, don’t we? so if that part’s true, how is this also true, rather than the more obvious idea that main-timeline Loki actually tempered some of Thor’s wilder impulses and that’s why Party Thor turned out like this?
