Major US firefighter union declines to endorse Trump or Harris for president

International Association of Fire Fighters vote by a margin of 1.2% to not back either White House candidate

The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) has declined to endorse a candidate ahead of next month’s US presidential election, despite efforts by both the Kamala Harris and Donald Trump campaigns to court the union. “This decision, which we took very seriously, is the best way to preserve and strengthen our unity,” the IAFF said in a statement. The union, which has almost 350,000 members, was a key part of the coalition built by Joe Biden – and the first union to back the president’s run for election in 2020. It is the second leading trade union to refrain from endorsing either Harris or Trump as tens of millions of Americans prepare to cast their votes. The Teamsters International, a US transportation workers union that represents more than 1.3 million workers, also announced it would not back a candidate. Both campaigns had sought the IAFF’s support, with Tim Walz, Harris’s running mate, and JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, addressing the union’s convention in August.

The national IAFF narrowly voted to not back either Presidential candidate. Local chapters, however, are likely to mostly endorse Harris.

The IAFF has generally backed the Democratic candidate for President, but didn’t do so in 2016.

The five years since the U.S.-backed coup in Ukraine have seen an explosive resurgence of fascist and white supremacist movements around the globe, from the U.S. to Germany to Brazil. The people of the Donbass republics and the internationalist volunteers have been on the front lines of this battle, and have many important lessons to teach us.

Today Washington and its allies are trying to impose their coup model on Bolivarian Venezuela. But the Chavista movement has sunk deep roots among the masses, raising millions out of desperate poverty and giving them a voice for the first time, and the people are determined to resist. It is obvious that to impose the puppet Juan Guaido or a foreign occupation on the Venezuelan people would require a fascist terror like that of Pinochet in Chile. We refuse to accept that scenario.

I was officially hired as a Firefighter / Medic in a career fire department that is aggressive, progressive, and well renowned.

There was a lot of bad and rough patches between these two dates with a lot of perseverance and hard work to overcome it all. Good things happen. Stay the course.

As a quarter-million Californians fled from the path of a series of deadly wildfires, and thousands of firefighters did battle on the front lines, President Trump issued a statement threatening to withhold federal disaster aid and attacking California fire policies.

In response to Trump’s tweet blaming California’s horrific wildfires on supposed forest mismanagement (a claim which is false) and threatening to withhold federal funds, California Professional Firefighters gently reminds the Ignoramus-in-Chief that any supposed forest mismanagement is his own fault:

“The president’s assertion that California’s forest management policies are to blame for catastrophic wildfire is dangerously wrong. Wildfires are sparked and spread not only in forested areas but in populated areas and open fields fueled by parched vegetation, high winds, low humidity and geography. Moreover, nearly 60 percent of California forests are under federal management, and another one-third under private control. It is the federal government that has chosen to divert resources away from forest management, not California.”

This scenario may apply due to the building construction, unavailability of an aerial, or the inability to set up the aerial. bc clearly, the logical course of action is to have massive amounts of crossover fic in which sesshoumaru adopts the Smol Protagonist of another fandom and lowkey fixes all conflict via tenseiga and bakusaiga. and yet I don’t think I’ve seen any???
