There's an extremely interesting art exhibition in the St John's Hall gallery in Barmouth, North Wales. It tells the story of a single cell gradually developing into human SUPERORGANISM. Our civilization is now so interconnected that it could be viewed as a living organism. So the problems of modern world are problems of a living being. I think, like in a human body, its own immune system can turn against it. That's self destructive tendencies in our societies. Whole humanity might get hypochondria or paranoia. Easy to imagine. Many people on social media were coping and pasting angry text from each other saying "Why didn't you say anything about conflicts in Syria or Yemen for many years?" (and those people did not, too) It looks to me that, like with old festering wounds which just won't heal, human superorganism learns to live somehow with some long going local conflicts... But now we have a fresh, bleeding cut and the whole being is in pain. It does what a human would do: stops blood flow to the affected area (sanctions). It fights infection. This horrible situation surprisingly gives me hope. All local tyrants, terrorists and dictators, watch. You cannot inflict pain in one place without consequences any more. We are all one being. You can't hurt a part of it without hurting yourself. Cut a limb off and you will bleed too. Isolate your country and it will wither. Good ideas can spread with the lightning speed across the world too, changing it for the best. Globalisation, a new level of our civilization is both a blessing and a curse.
