For the IBD awareness month Sophie have posted this amazing post about it. Let's take care about our health 🙏 #Repost @sophie.skelton (@get_repost) ・・・ It’s still #IBDawarenessmonth so I just wanted to give a little shout out and a little nod to everyone suffering with, or has a family member who suffers with, either of these. IBD and IBS are very different yet both can cause horrific symptoms, pain and embarrassment. With Easter weekend beginning, people might be looking forward to a long walk and/or an Easter egg, maybe some traditional lamb, maybe vegan food. Yet people with IBD probably won’t be. Too much fibre can flare up the ulcers in the GI tract and can cause bloating... but too little fibre can cause digestive problems too. Sugar is a no, no. A long walk is great for inflammation but too long and you’re swinging back the other way. Too long and they might be dreading the fact that they might suddenly need to go to the bathroom and there is no where close and no where private to go. Not all disabilities are visible. IBD is an autoimmune disease and is utterly life altering. This Easter, please let’s remember those less fortunate than us and that includes those with IBD and IBS. Please let’s not diminish diseases such as this🙏🏼 For those with IBS, here are some little tips to hopefully help relieve some of your symptoms: - Try sleeping on your left hand side (this is the way the stomach and pancreas naturally fall) or on your back as it reduces acid reflux. This can HUGELY reduce that morning bowling ball belly. - Try not to eat just before going to bed. Leave it a couple of hrs or longer if you can. - Remember that eye mask, it’s a God send for a good night’s sleep and for reducing those stress hormones under light detection. Lastly; - Challenge yourself to smile. Now and again, when you remember, paste a smile on your face. Even the simple act of this releases endorphins and makes you feel better so as cheesy as it sounds, get grinning 😁 Wishing everyone a peaceful Good Friday and a very #HappyEaster. 🐣. @crohnsandcolitisuk https://www.instagram.com/p/Bwba_SGAGeS/?igshid=1ugd5c490fuvf
