January Fic Recs: Sickfic!
I don't know about you, but January always seems to be when me or everyone around me gets sick. Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's the stress of the holiday season catching up with you, maybe it's just because January is awful. Grab your TheraFlu, your chicken soup, and your favorite snuggly blanket and settle in with these wonderful sickfics.

Struck down by illness after a mission, Jyn lies feverish in Cassian's quarters. He's not there, but K-2 is, bound by a promise to Cassian that he'll make sure Jyn recovered by the time he gets back. Or even if he doesn't.
Sickfic is often fluffy, but this has more than a tinge of angst to it, as Kay and Jyn both know there's a strong chance Cassian might not be back. After all, they're still in the middle of a war. But the reluctant affection between them is bolstered by their shared love for Cassian and hope for his return.

After a wicked nightmare and an equally wicked migraine do her in, Jyn struggles to make it through her day. At her lowest point, Cassian finds her, and she finds that she can accept comfort and care from him even if she's too stubborn to take it from anyone else.
Jyn's illness is written so vividly that you almost get sympathy nausea for her. Of course, this means that when Cassian finds her, you also get sympathy relief. It's a lovely snapshot of how just having someone you love and trust take care of you can make you feel better even before the medicine takes effect.

After a mission on a planet with a terrible climate, Cassian refuses to admit he's sick. No matter that he's coughing and bleary-eyed and kinda clingy, he's totally not sick! Jyn puts up with it until he can't deny it anymore, then tucks him into bed.
Somehow a lot of this fandom's sickfics (or at least, a lot of the ones I've reblogged on my personal Tumblr) feature Jyn as the sick one. This features Cassian down for the count, and insisting he's not. It's really lovely to see Jyn trying to convince him that he's allowed to take care of himself, and to see how much just being around her makes him feel better.
