I'm not sure why I tried

Talked to our plant manager about the current state of discourse in the shop. Mentioned Troll was going all Holocaust denial on someone he was training. And bringing Nazi gear to work like show and tell. He knew about that already. Also brought up the racism and sexism issues. Like Racist Bastard's mythical North Korean refugee girlfriend and how he thought a trip to chicken and waffles might "qualify" him to date a black girl.

"Someday, we are going to be a larger company with a more diverse workforce and this stuff is really, really going to get the company in trouble. I realize the guys seem to think everyone is pretty homogenous in their views, but it's hard to guess what someone might get upset about, and there's so much now that's way, way, way over the line for workplace appropriate. Someday, Troll is going to say something that results in someone suing the pants off this company, and he's noticeably getting worse." Approximately what I said. Because I know that bringing up my personal discomfort is a non-starter, but I thought maybe I could engage him on behalf of the company's best interests. Haha.

I can't even really describe his reaction because it was such a non-reaction. He said he knew about the Nazi gear and was trying to come up with a good way to respond. To this thing that happened weeks ago that has so far elicited no response at all. He suggested that Troll has a right to talk about his opinions and maybe the fault lay with his trainee for telling everyone about what Troll said. I mean, what? What??

"And while I don't want to tell you to just suck it up and deal with it, you kind of do just have to suck it up and deal with it."
