Have you tried to draw the FR eel dragons yet? 👀

I have a couple of them, but this ask inspired me to really start thinking about them more! Their lore will be tied to my aquatic Gaolers Aegir and Sigra!

This big ol friend may be the cause of this 'Little Mermaid' situation with my Gaoler. He is a helpful friendly magical guy who saves drowning dragons by changing them to make them into more amphibious/aquatic creatures. He 'makes' friends for himself. haha!

A quick WIP of my Aberration Nivis. Some thoughts/lore.

It has eighteen claws (Three on each foot), four arms, four eyes, three heads, two (back) legs, two wings, and one tail. Their body is covered in a dense coat of fur.

The center head has three eyes and controls the body while conscious. The left and right heads each have one eye and function at the will of the center head. The left and right head never speak, but will occasionally hiss or snarl. All three heads have small antlers that grow and fall out without much rhyme or reason so they stay fairly small and often asymmetric.

The Left and the Right each have their own more ‘feral’ consciousness that can comprehend simple commands from other dragons if the center head is incapacitated, but cannot speak in more than a garbled whisper. If the center head is unconscious/incapacitated the two remaining heads would have to coordinate with one another to do so, each controlling their respective half of the body unilaterally. In this rare situation, they tend to bicker and fight with one another instead of coordinate.

Nivis refers to themselves as ‘we’ or ‘us’ and occasionally ‘it’ when speaking about themselves. 

Considering either two wings, four wings, or no wings. If so, they would most likely be big and feathered, or closer to Gaoler wings (Small and webbed with fur). 

Lore-wise Nivis may have been a Seeker Order Gaoler that fell into the WyrmWound while on the Hunt and returned to the Southern Icefields because of grain of memory and/or the IceWarden recognized one of Her children and called them Home to serve Her once more even in it’s deformed shape. in any case, they are Kaith’s newer recruits and certainly a handful.

LORE DUMP 1

In order to work out Lore business I used this nifty 40 FR World Building Questions by Cryptid on FR! Check it out HERE! I worked on this a while back, but for now I am going through each prompt & re-vamping them a little as I go. I’ll probably work through the list out of order.

Some IceFallen Cannon to keep in mind that differs from FR Cannon:  The IceWarden. The Icewarden is female she/her pronouns. She is often referred to as "The Mother” by Gaolers and Tundra dragons. She resides deep within the Fortress of Ends guarding Ancient Evils not seen since the First Age. 

Gaolers and Tundra. Gaolers are Viviparous dragons and their young are referred to as 'cubs' or 'pups'. (They do not hatch from eggs.) Tundra dragons are descendants of Gaoler dragons much like dogs are to wolves. This may have been achieved through specific traits common in outcasts or deserters who, over time forgot their origins, or Gaolers breeding with other breeds of dragons, or a combination of both. Traditional Gaolers frown on either possibility and choose not to acknowledge their potential blood-relations to their softer cousins.

2. Is there a class difference in your lair? If so, how do the ‘lower’ ranks of their society live? If not, how do they maintain equality? As cubs, Gaolers are trained by the CubWarden until they are old enough to choose an Order: Keeper, Seeker, or Sentry. A Gaoler who fails to choose and serve an Order is not acknowledged by Order Gaolers. Rarely a young Gaoler may feel strongly that they belong to the Overseer Order and challenge an Overseer for their post, more often, a Veteran Keeper may advance to the Overseer Order by the will of the Council.  The Sentinels - Crafted by the IceWarden Herself, these god-like beings hold their posts within the Fortress of Ends. They are Her Will made flesh and blood, Her children. Their attitude about the IceWarden IMO is similar to how loyalist Space Marines feel about the Emperor of Mankind from Warhammer 40K. This beloved reference will probably appear a few more times. Order of Overseers - This Order of Gaolers are judge, jury, and executioner for all within the territory of their Clan. They are looked to for guidance and form a council when necessary. They are guardians of Greater Horrors kept at  maximum security levels within the Fortress of Ends. Each Overseer watches over no more than two charges at one time during their entire career and they serve this duty until the end of their lives. Unlike other Gaoler Orders, Overseers are either granted the title by the council of Overseers when considered worthy, or take the title from an established Overseer in formal combat. This uncommon challenge is often fought to the death. Order of Keepers - This Order of Gaolers functions much like Overseer Order Gaolers, however they are more of a brotherhood and work more closely with Seeker and Sentry Order Gaolers. They delegate assignments, process incoming inmates, and work together among themselves in rotation to keep watch over the more plentiful Lesser Horrors and villainous beasts.  Order of Sentries - Gaolers who prevent intruders from reaching the Fortress of Ends. They work a strict and ancient perimeter in life bonded pairs or groups of three. In IceFallen, there are two factions of Sentries: The Dawnguard and The Night Heralds. They work in shifts respectively during the daylight hours or at night based on their specializations. Order of Seekers - Hunters who chase the Horrors of this world. They work in packs of 5-10 Gaolers and travel the greatest distance from IceFallen territory, only returning to report, obtain requisition, or turn in a bounty. Gaolers who join this Order are often expected to live fast and die very young. The Exalted - This is a special sect of Modern breed dragons who have answered the call of The Mother. They have abandoned material wealth and pledged themselves to the purpose of keeping the evils of this world locked away. They assist all of the Gaoler Orders from the Seekers to the High Overseer and hold many positions of authority within IceFallen. They perform most of the Hunting and Gathering for the Clan, an essential task to keep the Gaolers at top performance and eliminate the need to leave their posts for long periods of time. With the introduction of The Exalted, there have been more healthy cubs, longer careers, and overall more peaceful living for Gaolers.

LORE DUMP!

1. Write from the perspective of an outsider of your lair, what is their first impression? How have they discovered this group? How are they greeted? IceFallen is a jagged black tooth of rock that juts out from impenetrable ice that forms the greater Fortress of Ends. The peak of this mountainous formation is obscured by dense clouds of mist. At the top of a steep, hidden stairway an immense stone door bars anyone from entering or exiting this sacred place. Carved into the black stone is a tale depicting the founding of IceFallen: a horrific creature wreathed in flame diving from the sky, three Gaoler Ancients circle below, the ensuing battle is fierce and ends with victory over the beast, imprisoning it deep within the mountain fortress. Common travelers do not often come this close to the Fortress of Ends. Miles of unforgiving and perilous landscape, harsh climates and scarce food stand between civilization and the Fortress. One would have to come with great purpose to this place in order to reach it, even so, powerful illusory magic wreaths the territory in wild snow storms and other deterring hazards. Beyond that, the Sentry Order guards the way fiercely. To reach the door and gain entry is to put one's life into the hands of IceFallen and the IceWarden Herself. Any hope of leaving lies in the purity of one's very soul and the gravity of their purpose for coming to the Fortress. This is no place for the weak of heart or the feeble of mind. Some rare few Ice dragons may hear the IceWarden call them to service here. These dragons are known as the Exalted, marked with Her sign that grants safe passage here. These children of Ice are met with solemn respect for their sacrifice of worldly comforts and selfish ambitions to serve a higher purpose. Their home is nestled in a protected grotto that is hidden in the shadow of the Fortress of Ends. A statue sculpted in the likeness of the First Exalted dragon welcomes those who live in and visit this place, guarding the largest entrance. This monument honors the many Exalted dragons who have come since the First to serve the IceWarden and the First Children in their endeavors to protect the World from horrors both new and old. The network of caves both natural and dragon-made serves as a temple and a home for the IceFallen Exalted.

Hey Grey! Are your Gaolers loyal to the Icewarden, indifferent, or dissident?

They are incredibly loyal. She (the IceWarden) is their Mother and they live to serve her Will. Incredibly diehard. The more lax Sentry and Seeker Order Gaolers don't have as rigid rules about how they are loyal to her, but in the end they are all her Children and they are very sensitive to her call. Outcasts who turn their back on her are shunned by loyalist Gaolers to the point that they may be hunted and killed if their intentions to desert become known. This was my very first Ask so thank you so much!! I just posted my first Lore Blurb! I hope that answers some questions for you. I decided to go into detail about the Gaoler Orders first.
