False Alarm!

With the Onshūkai deban being released we finally have even better confirmation as to who’s left and who’s staying. Apparently Ichitomi (市十美) of Nakagishi (中支志) has not left the karyukai! She appears to have gone home for Obon, and thus was not present during Hassaku; even though it’s highly recommended that maiko and geiko take their holidays after Hassaku, it appeared as though her travel plans got in the way. She will be both dancing and playing the kotsuzumi in the annual fall recital. Both Kosen (小扇) of Hiroshimaya (廣島屋) and Chiyoko (知余子) of Nishimura (西村)’s name are gone though, so this now confirms their leavings. Eriha (恵里葉) of Tama (多麻) is also missing, so it is still unsure whether she is still taking time off for her family or has decided to leave.

October 2017: Geiko Ichitomi (Nakagishi Okiya), Chiyoko (Nishimura Okiya), Eriha (Tama Okiya), Katsue, Katsuhina, Katsutomo (Odamoto Okiya), Masaki (Minoyae Okiya) and Mameroku (Arai Okiya) of Gion Kobu dressed for their roles in the Onshukai, Gion Kobu’s fall odori, which runs from October 1st to October 6th.
