AIZO
[ Jᴜᴊᴜꜱᴛᴜ Kᴀɪꜱᴇɴ • Cᴜʟʟɪɴɢ Gᴀᴍᴇꜱ Aʀᴄ ]
Kyouji/Satomi + mcdonald romance❤️🎤🍽️
really love king gnu's new ost for jujutsu kaisen, AIZO, which literally translates to "love and hate" ("愛憎")
as the oxymoron suggests, the song really captures yuuji's self-loathing and desire to just be eradicated from existence—it all stems from his sense of deep guilt and shame—which juxtaposes with his longing to be accepted and loved (whether that be as a jujutsu sorcerer or just as a person)
thus, the lyrics mentions that "it's okay even if [all the feelings and justifications] are all deceptions" ("騙し騙しで良いの") because deep down yuuji wants someone to reassure him that he has the right to live, while simultaneously hating himself
i think that lyrics also alludes to megumi's monologue, asking yuuji to save him and make that his reason for living which equates to love
from the very beginning since his planned execution, yuuji was always at qualms with whether he was even allowed to live as Sukuna's vessel, as a bomb that can cause mass murder (as seen in the repetition of megumi's words throughout the story)
though now that (in his view) he did commit mass murder and the guilt and self-hatred wins over, this song reminds us that he is still a child wanting to feel loved for all of his "incomplete shape" ("未完成な私を認めて"), which are fighting against each other messily
king gnu's Daiki Tsuneta is such a genius as a composer and lyricist and every song is a banger and i'm glad the band is continuing to write for jjk since the movie
