I had a great time at the Flower and Garden Festival on Saturday evening!
Hey all! So the other day I found out my work location! This is my first time not working in Entertainment, and now I'm in Merchandise! I'm super pumped because my location is Village Traders at World Showcase in Epcot! Score! We all had traditions on Friday which was a good time like usual, and then spent the evening at Magic Kingdom. The next day I had off so I caught up on sleep and then went to Epcot! I'll post photos for that in a separate post. I'm really excited about my location and can't wait for my Discovery Day tomorrow.
My Disney Interview
I feel like writing something out so I think I’ll tell you guys about my interview with Disney!
When I found out I had an interview for the ICP/CEP I was on the bus to school. I literally cried and called my mom I was so happy. I knew getting an interview was going to be one of the hardest stages of the application so I was very relieved. That was on January 6 2015.
The next step after that was to pick an interview day, time and location. Unluckily for me the interviews were in Ontario and Quebec, and I live in Manitoba. But I booked one about three weeks from that day in Toronto! So off to Toronto I went!
When I got to the interview location (after walking about 15 blocks in a skirt and flats in below zero weather) I found groups of people who were obviously interviewing for the ICP and so I kind of watched them. Closer to the presentation time I went to find a girl I’d been talking to on facebook. I found her and she introduced me to all of her friends who were there as well (she was an alumni and so were all of them).
After that we went up to the floor the interview was on and watcĵhed the presentation which was amazing! It basically explained the program and everything we needed to know.
When the presentation was all done we went to the food court in the basement and got a table and talked. It was really exciting hearing stories from the people who had done the program before. Then three of them left for their interviews and the other three of us had longer to wait (2 more hours for Larissa and I and 4 more hours for Michael).
At 2 pm Larissa and I went for our interviews. We were put in a meeting room with the other 10 people interviewing at 2 and we talked to them some before the interviewers came and took 6 or 7 people, including my friend Larissa! I was left with 4 others and we had to way over half an hour. Then someone came to get us and took us to another waiting room, a nice kitchen.
Finally someone came to get me and took me to a room to interview me! It was really easy and friendly and went really quick. She asked me a lot about what in interested in and past experiences in work and life. She was very interested in my retail work experience. Then like that it was done and then I had to wait.
Exactly a week later I was accepted into the program in merchandise.
56 days until the end of my internship, 78 days until
updates + excitement!
So these past couple of weeks have been incredibly hectic with my internship, and books to read, and papers to write, and disney stuff on top of all of that! So last Friday I went home in time to go to the police station to get my police check started, since disney had told us it needs to be in 60 days before departure. The was a bunch of confusion on the Facebook group about these checks because each province has a differ way of conducting them, and some call them different things. So confusing. I've had probably five criminal record checks done before because of all of my volunteering with kids, so I wasn't a stranger to the process of it. So I went to the courthouse, got my court check, then went to the police station to fill out more forms for my CRC. Since no one seemed to know if we needed a vulnerable sector check or not, the lady at the office got me one anyway, and some other form that had to do with visas just in case. I'm so glad people in Newfoundland we helpful when it comes to this stuff! Today, I got the email from yummyjobs requesting our police checks (after almost deleting it because it just came up the recruiters name, not yummyjobs, so I though it was spam) and also and email containing a detailed disney look guide! Even though disney is super strict with their dress, I commend them on their dedication to keeping everything professional and detailed! I also spent the evening geeking out over the parks with some parents who were helping out with youth! I may be too excited to sleep! Every so often I catch myself realizing that this isn't a dream - I'm really going to disney in less than 3 months!
