Joey Drew is a vampire, drinking blood, supernaturally charming people, erasing memories of bites, all that good business. For the purposes of this AU, vampires... tend to vary a bit, by lineage and strength? In terms of what powers and weaknesses they have. Joey can go in the sun just fine, for example, though he overheats quicker than normal.

During a regularly scheduled “meeting” with Sammy (read: making out session) Joey gets overly excited and ends up biting Sammy. This is probably fine, he assumes - he’s never really turned anyone before, so worse case Sammy doesn’t remember some of today and is a bit groggy. It’s fine.

Sammy super is not fine. The next few days he feels worse than usual - tired, dizzy, cold. Weirdly... thirsty.

Surprise surprise, Mr. Lawrence, you’re a vampire! You done goofed, Joey. Of course, Sammy doesn’t work this out. Joey doesn’t notice this either. Busy with work, and it’s not like Sammy is going to bring up his weird new dehydration(???).

No, the people who work out what’s actually going on here are Norman and Susie. Both of them are vampires too, and the signs are... well. It’s pretty obvious what happened. They drag him off to Joey and point out the obvious, and let Joey sort this out.

Anyway, so Sammy needs to feed. Pretty badly, at this point. However, unlike Joey, Sammy does not yet have the ability to supernaturally charm people or remove their memory. But...

And here’s where I get self indulgent. Consider: vampires feeding off of other vampires, to get their blood indirectly. And then make bites/biting feel pretty nice because I’m like that. So, Sammy can just feed from Joey instead!

(Side note, this is also how things work for Norman and Susie. Norman is an extremely light-sensitive strain of vampire, and can’t go outside often to feed. Susie, on the other hand, is able to go out in the sun, and is a nice pretty lady who can easily prey upon random dudes in speakeasies... so she’s happy to help Norm out. ... I can have little a Norman/Susie, as a treat.)

Sammy ends up pretty much relying on Joey for food after this point, which is... unfortunate, given that they’re both workaholics who forget to self care.

Case in point, at some point they both forget about feeding time until it’s too late, and Sammy ends up accidentally biting Jack in the music department one night, while working overtime.

Luckily, Jack doesn’t turn - seems like Sammy isn’t really strong enough to do that. But Jack ends up volunteering to help out Sammy with his feeding issues, too.
