You remember that comics of Jason owning Penguin's night club? Well imagine if before these events and when he was still new-face red hood on the streets and came to Roman for job, the two fell into sorta routine of 'counsellor/friend' after Jason leaves and it's like Jason returns to Roman whenever in need like, just showing up at his office or apartment for a drink, maybe staying the night in his penthouse sometimes. sometimes he just shows up and then they have chat about business, Roman giving guidance and courage and comfort in anyway he can (sometimes Jason just shows up, stormy and grumbling while having few cuts and bruises here and there only to let Roman patch him up, feed him and then crawls into his open arms without saying a word and then leaves when morning comes..) and now he own night club, he's like 'I'm strong. I need no help in any way' and so he stops going to Roman for few months but then he *misses* him and finally on a rainy night he shows up at his penthouse, Roman says nothing but after they share dinner and sit together (with Jason's legs draped over Roman's lap) and they both looking out of the windows, with raindrops pouring on the glass and then Roman confesses in calming voice; *wish you were mine, Jason.*

Jason doesn't look at him, he only scoffs and tells it never happens and they won't exchange any further words but when Jason is back at his place, he gets drunk and.. my imagination ends here but this picture of him crying under shower and punching the wall because he's angry at himself, angry at Bruce and angry at Roman because *why he said that..*

“How are you so calm?” Pear whispered, hands clutching her diamond sword almost like in prayer, “does it not terrify you? That some monster is watching your every move?”

“Well, it’s perhaps odd that it thinks I’m interesting,” Mumbo confessed, smiling sheepishly with an uncaring shrug, “but I don’t think he’s scary.”

“It’s a monster,” Pearl stressed, hands tightening until her knuckles bled white, “it isn’t safe-“

“Pearl, I am so sorry for whatever server you came from, and whatever you’ve experienced,” Mumbo said, speaking softly and kind, “but this place is different, and although we’re a bit scattered around the continent we’re a family. We wouldn’t let anything hurt you.”

“You don’t understand what that thing can do,” said Pearl, voice warbling on the cusp of tears.

“Well, no, but I have a good idea,” Mumbo admitted, “and sure it’s a big feathery monster that apparently can punch bedrock- but it’s an absolute spoon with far too much interest in coloured wool and deepslate.”

Mumbo tilted his head, trying not to smile at the face of Pearl’s inconsolable distress. Softly, he told her, “and you know, Pearl? I have a good feeling that feathery lump would do absolutely anything to make you smile.”
