11 & 15 for the identity ask!
11. describe your ideal day.
Waking up to a bunch of super sweet tumblr notifications, not having terrible bed hair. Making a great breakfast of fried potatoes, sausage and eggs with cheese skillet. Not having to fight a 5 year old to eat. Watching a movie with breakfast. Cleaning up a small mess and watching kiddo play a video game while I draw. Taking a long nap and waking up without being groggy. Making a nice taco/nacho dinner with a cold soda and a few shows, then a take home piece of Napolean dessert and coffee. Then some music, and 5 pages of in the zone writing. Then taking the dog out and him going to the bathroom within 2 minutes and crawling into bed to read myself to sleep.
15. five most influential books over your lifetime.
1. The Weetzie Bat Chronicles - Francesca Lia Block Block inspired me to write more romance that included more raw feelings, and that nothing is ever perfect after happily ever after, and that everyone has feelings, not just the main character.
2. Goth - Otsuchi I used to write a lot of transgressive horror stories, but after having my son I really cut back thanks to a surge of anxiety. I read this one recently and It helped to desensitize me again, something that I really needed in order to feel comfortable as a horror writer.
3. Silver Kiss - Annette Curtis Clause Not all stories have a good, fulfilling end. Death is survivable by only those around us. Even if love is there, it doesn’t have to stay there forever.
4. Horns - Joe HillDemons can be good, and everyone has a disgusting quality.
5. Twilight - Stephanie Meyer No matter how terrible, if you write what’s popular you will publish.
