But anyway, in those few hours, a lot of Swifties were showing their "we can excuse racism" asses to the world. "You can invite whoever you want to your wedding!" "Is she (the billionaire with a team of lawyers and PR people) supposed to screen every guest?" "She gives a lot of money to charity! So it balances out!"

Ok like. Imagine life without ads. You wake up, check your messages across a variety of apps, no ads. You get up and put on the tv while you prep your breakfast, no ads. Maybe you drive somewhere and switch on the radio, no ads. Maybe you drive a long distance, yet somehow, not a single billboard on your path. You pick up a newspaper or magazine to pass the time, no advertisements only articles. You turn on your game console, the home screen is just about your games, no ads to buy more. You open a streaming app, you don't pay extra for no ads, there's just no ads ever.

Think about how much of your time is spent looking at ads. "Download ublock" yeah I know, I have. But that doesn't change that the world is covered with endless advertising. Imagine never seeing that again. How much better our lives would be.

I don't know how to convince people to be more intellectually curious, or to want to educate themselves on whatever topics they fancy. But the people in charge have worked for decades to get a tired, incurious, badly educated, intellectually lazy population so they can control it better. And personally, that pisses me off and makes me want to spite them, but also it worries me because people who do not investigate things on their own are going to get taken advantage of. A lot.

I know there are free lessons on the internet to teach people how to read better and things like financial literacy. And I know there are free videos on how to educate yourself on a topic if you are an organized type of learner (personal curriculum). But do those work for most people? What gets people to want to learn?

Because if reading your fav author and encountering a new word doesn't inspire you to look up that word, what will? Genuinely asking.

And this is not generational btw. The younger kids are surrounded by tiktok and AI but so are the older people who seem to be forgetting what they've learned at incredible rates.

That would have been an incredible episode of Batman: The Animated Series, though. Joker gets out of Arkham, having convinced the psychs he's rehabilitated by speaking in fluent Therapy. Bats spends the entire episode losing his mind, because he KNOWS it's an act because NO ONE TALKS LIKE THAT and Joker reacts with total calm and understanding when he finds Batman in his pantry at 2AM. "You're violating a boundary right now, but I realize this behavior is caused by a history of trauma. Can we talk about how your inability to trust negatively affects those around you?" Meanwhile steam is just coming out of Batman's ears
