things I wish I could relive for the first time again:

that magical window where you finish a new piece of media, having watched/read it all by yourself with no fandom contact whatsoever, and you are just so happy about it, and full of interesting theories and takeaways, and just in love with it as a gorgeous piece of art.

because I swear to god as soon as you join the fandom for anything, you're bombarded with how you're supposed to view characters and their arcs, how you're supposed to morally and ethically judge the plot and the ways it apparently failed to present the right message, and if you don't you'll either be shunned for not sharing the popular headcanons or you'll be harassed for not criticizing the source material enough.

like how is it that the fans of a piece of media are also the ones being the most negative about it? If I like a show or a movie or a book, well, I liked it. That's kind of the point. I'm actually not here to tear it apart and talk about how it didn't live up to standards other people had! I enjoyed it for what it was, and forcing myself to find negative things to say about it doesn't actually bring me more enjoyment of it or reap any benefit to me. Fandom's a double-edged sword; you want to join a community to share your love for a piece of art, and the price you pay for a modicum of joy is a mountain of negativity. that's one main reason that I never engage with fandom until I'm completely done with a show, because if I was plugged into all of that commentary and discourse during the process, I'd be completely colored by how I'm expected to interpret everything this piece of art is presenting to me without being able to even form my own opinions.

I think it's really nice that there are a sizable number webtoons that focus on gender equality and addressing homophobia and other social issues, but I gotta say, it's a little grating how hamfisted a lot of them are. They mean well, but they are still in the "girlboss" phase. And like, they just have people say overtly sexist things, and readers are supposed to get angry about that. Like, if Korea is still socially at a point where people can say women are inferior to men out loud without mincing words, then yeah, addressing that should be important and also hey what the fuck. But otherwise, just taking the easy route of having many characters say extremely misogynistic things and Girlbossing them into oblivion is kind of giving a lot of outs for people who are unconsciously perpetuating societal sexism and want to go their entire lives without addressing that.

stuff we actually know:

alex deliberately didn't reveal anything in the fireside chat, and occtis ignored/deflected vaelus when she asked him in episode 3, despite being relatively open about his family stuff otherwise (although at that point he barely knew vaelus).

she has not been mentioned or present in any of the tachonis schemes or locations thus far, which could mean nothing. like nor have two of occtis's siblings, but her absence is more glaring because as primus's wife she would presumably be the lady of the house, and would be present at like the sundered house meeting, or generally involved in The Evil Plan.

stuff we can concievably assume:

she is from a different noble house, and doesn't have (at least tachonisy/necromantic) sorcerous ability. the tachonises, and explicitly primus, seem to not like poor people, given doset's interactions with casimir and primus's speech in e30, so I can't really picture papa p pulling an aranessa royce. nor do I think he would've been up for incest because of his dunking on petra and ryah (unless he was compensating). I guess she could have been from a vassal house, but the only tachonis vassal we've seen thus far is seremai, and they're all snaky, and primus's kids have an explicit lack of snakiness. and on that point if she had some other kind of sorcerous ability it didn't visibly transfer to any of her children, that we know of.

she was probably married to primus, was probably a woman, and probably had all 8 kids herself. this is all just because of the general strictness of nobility surrounding like courting and stuff, without having a specific alternative like king gus naming his nephew heir (but if it was something like that I feel like it would've been mentioned? but idk)

she was not particularly nice or warm to occtis. occtis has mentioned a lot how he's always been an outsider in his family, and recently that thimble and thaisha are the "two people that care about [him]", and alex said in the fireside chat that he was mostly raised by tutors and stuff. so either she was just as cold to him as the rest of his family or she was out of the picture for most of his childhood (and occtis isn't like. looking for her). also on a meta level brennan has been very good about making the women in his campaign like complex, and even maya who is very motherly in some ways, is not just the stereotypical tragically perfect kind loving mother who never gets mad etc, so I don't think occtis's mom is going to be that either (and I fucking love maya she's perfect but she's perfect because she is both a mother and a person). and alex explicitly said he didn't want occtis to be some inexplicable chosen one who always knew his family was horrible, so it wouldn't make sense for his mom to be that, either.

stuff I'm fully theorizing:

she's not dead. first of all, that would be boring, and second of all, the tachonises have like? control over the dead? like nullus is dead and he seems to be just kinda hanging out in the tenebral reaches, still very active (he showed up when occtis was dying, when spoke to tertia, and when they tried to speak to thjazi, and he always seemed like he. was totally in control). so her being dead wouldn't be an excuse for her to not be active as part of the Evil Plan or whatever (sidebar: I'm very curious what will happen to frons and koral now). she could totally be dead, but she would have to be dead AND excommunicated or some other bs idk.

she's not dame gaya seremai. ive seen this theory and I don't know if it makes sense for occtis to be an obvious bastard because that would have been like mentioned? like sure his family hates him but if anything they hate him because he has all the right blood and is still a disappointment. and gaya/any other affair woman wouldn't be a reason for him to not have sorcerous powers because those come from primus in the first place not his mom. so its possibly that he's a bastard through his father, ie his mother cheated with someone who isn't primus, but that still leaves us drawing a blank for like why she isn't around (unless that's what got her like shunned from the family? but again occtis was a bastard they would have just been like he's a bastard fuck that guy). so then we would just have two mystery people running around.

I saw what happened on Twitter earlier, with people dunking on you for posting about how the fandom ignores or diminishes Suselle, and I just wanted to say you shouldn't feel ashamed at all for posting about it!

The fandom has longstanding issues regarding its treatment of Suselle, ranging from calling it boring and a copy of Alphyne, to the more overt lesbophobia of trying to paint the ship as toxic or Noelle as unhealthily obsessive, to the just blatantly bigoted like those terrible cuckelle memes, and honestly, more people should be talking about it! Especially since it feels like it's gotten a dozen times worse since the new chapters came out.

Your post got quoted by some weirdos with big follower counts who hate the ship, and then they and their followers went about immediately proving your point for you. Nothing about what you said was wrong or offensive or even remotely provocative, so please don't feel bad about it!

It's just the way you are, how you encourage him to spend time with you, his heart beat does follow yours in time after all.

Timothy may be your partner, but he's worried for his pocket-watches safety when you're around. It's not that he doesn't trust you, he does very much so, he doesn't trust you around his extremely delicate collection. He loves your energy but a little too much or a little too less could end in catastrophe!! Maybe you can just.. watch in excitement as he takes apart and tightens the pieces of the pocket watches.

Dates with Timothy is always precise and on point, every single activity has a timestamp which you both gladly take part in. Especially when it comes to just being out together, Timothy insists you follow the schedule he had planned. The most attractive date he's been on with you is the same date he used as a fake scenario, when you both seated for dinner he asks you about the night's agenda and schedule. And you read peppily off a meticulously planned timetable for the evening in 10 minutes? He could only smile, eyes half lidded, and purr in adoration. He's never met someone so timely like you.

Timothy definitely purrs or mewls when you two have more intimate moments, he just simply cannot get enough. Each touch from you is full of love his hearts ticking and tocking simply speeds up a few seconds more than they're accustomed too. Even if you're holding his hand and swinging it around, its synced with the ticking of his pocket watches & heart. Timothy has a spot behind his left ear, and when you run your fingers through his hair and scratch that spot he reacts both vocally and physically. Like leaning into your touch and mewling.

You two are such a striking pair, one being the humanoid cat of time and the other being a pure golden retriever sweetheart. The energy contrasts completely but somehow you two balance eachother out wholesomely. While Timothy makes sure you know your time and schedules so you miss nothing out, you make sure he has his time and schedule with you so he has time for himself and you.

Timothy may love his timeliness and his schedules, but in honest truth he prioritizes you more. He’s willing to ditch a few meetings in his schedule to spend more time with you, like mentioned he definitely spends extra hours next to you. And as sweet as it is, you make sure not to take advantage of it. You want him to live more in the moment yes, but you respect his interest in schedule. Every time he takes a break from being sharply on time, it’s addicting and intoxicating. He can’t explain it but it makes him feel fluttery inside, not the tick-tock kind. His time is well spent with you, afterall there is always time for you.
