Hey Kit! This may be helpful for your followers anxious about the switch to itch.io, but you can enable your game to open automatically in portrait mode on itch.
Chromium-based browsers (includes Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Vivaldi, Brave, Opera and others) can only open itch's browser-based games in either portrait or landscape mode on mobile. You can't change between them and the default is landscape. If you want your game to open in portrait mode, you need to select it under Frame Options.
As long as you change the setting and ensure your stylesheet is mobile-compatible for portrait mode, it will open correctly and won't be distorted!
I go over it here. Hopefully that helps soothe some of the concern for mobile players. 💕
yeah i have my game set to automatically launch in portrait mode already - while i've been testing my game on safari (on mobile) and haven't had any issues yet, since i removed the journal for the time being i now have it set to mobile friendly with portrait mode, since the only thing i had that wasn't mobile friendly was the journal.
and the template i linked is fully mobile compatible too, i believe both of the ones nyehilism has made work with mobile!!
thanks for pointing this out though, i didn't realize this is what specifically was causing the issue/distortion on some devices and it's good to know that it's an easy fix for authors 😊💖
