isabelle sat on the curb in harlem, the sunshine warm on her shoulders and her camera heavy around her neck. it was warming up in the city which means the boroughs were coming to life. street buskers were everywhere, never too close together so their sounds didn’t clash. windows were open to let in fresh air, but no one was inside. people sat on stoops and balconies, chattering and laughing and watching as children played in the streets. not a single car had gone by in an entire hour; everyone was walking to their destination. water exploded from a fire hydrant nearby, mist hitting her tanned legs as she stretched to meet it, laying a protective arm over her camera. she inhaled, hoping the vaguely uninspired feeling from the night before-- a night that had sucked the liveliness out of her-- would go away. hangover and guilt weighed heavily on her shoulders as she used her current project as a distraction. she stood, lifting her camera and taking a few steps back to ind the perfect spot until--.. “holy shit,” she swore under her breath, feeling her back ram against something, “i am so sorry--...” isabelle blinked, taking a deep breath and looking at the person she’d run into. familiarity or pretty face, she smiled, “sorry, do i know you?”
