Fundamentals of character design; if you wanna refine a design that seems to fluctuate every time you draw it, try finding the basic shapes in your design and figuring out how to use the shape language to better represent your character. Round shapes for cuteness, sweetness, softness; square shapes for rigidness, seriousness, hardness; triangle shapes for a bit of unique flair, maybe something edgy, flexibility; heart shapes for a combined message of the round and triangle shapes, maybe also communicating beauty or loving tenderness.

Witchsona Story Doodles! Plus some reference images for three of the more central characters in the story, Micah, Embre, and Torch. I was thinking of doing a reference image like those three for Virilia, the witch, but I basically seared her core design elements into my brain by drawing her a bunch so I’m just posting a doodle set alongside the other refs.

If you wanna know, Micah is a Púca, so I drew all the animals she can turn into off to the side, trying to incorporate as many identifiable features of hers as I could. Embre and Torch meanwhile are twin genies, but Embre remained one of the classical types of genies that grants wishes and helps travelers while Torch became an Ifrit, choosing to terrorize people and cause mischief. He’s trapped, bound to his lamp, while Embre was freed by Virilia after helping her set up her magical house in the middle of the woods.

Friday Doodles! I was listening to my playlist of songs I want to make animations with and I started doodling the characters I associated the songs with.

1. My Hazbin Hotel OC, Verity! I keep redesigning her slightly but I think I struck gold this time, and I like this version of her.

2. I saw people making OCs for Onward and though making an OC for that movie had never crossed my mind before, seeing everyone’s creativity inspired me and I decided I wanted to make a mermaid OC!

3. Draw the Squad meme with my Witchsona and the djinni twins

4. My most recent attempt at my Steampunk Demigod OCs, Moira and Eli.

5. Drew my first Monster Prom OC, Fae, for old times sake. Below her is a little scene from an animation idea with my OC for Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld.

Headshots of my Djinn and Ifrit OCs, respectively. On top we have Embre, the Djinn, and on bottom we have her twin brother, Torch, the Ifrit. These two go into my witch story, which I will share more about at a later time.
