#Yaaaoooo Summer of ‘90; posted up in my brother Fart Berry’s Jeep- the original Red Rooster. He had jus dropped it super low and threw the “10s on staggered of course with four “15 speakers built into a throne bench like in the back, sounding like thunder shattering all concrete in hood near you lol!. Let’s be clear, I’m from “ The Hill but still hung on “The Block”! The crew was Berry, T.O., GLX, A.D., Mike Boogie, rest in paradise to Pepe, Hev Po and Mapes..... AP bless your soul too; our really real big brother was always watching... I think this pic was taken by @Just_Jodee; we we’re on the block bout to go on a quick mission. It was my Bday week and to be honest I was getting ready to go away for some vacation time, to a not so beautiful Mount Airy Lodge; know what I mean? Lol!! Anyway; bcz of @Mike_Boogie8- who everyone called us “ Mike Big Nose” bcz out of the towners thought we were twins. But Juice Head was the name Mike gave me that kind of stuck after I came home in ‘93 a cut my locks.. Believe or not thise were the days; living reckless with no responsibilities no fear but we still had morals and respect for our OGs; much less would kill for time to sit steal a jewel and lite gem or two from them... Had a pretty fascinating @Uber pickup yesterday. Picked up a professor for a long ride from her aunt's house. She told me her aunt's father was the third Secretary General of the United Nations!! His name is U Thant..he served from 1961-1971. While JFK was president, Haile Selassie was emperor of Ethiopia, Vietnam War and all other things you can imagine. He negotiated with Fidel Castro at the U.N. to prevent a war with the U.S. after the Bay of Pigs. She said this photo of him with Fidel was at the U.N. and the only time weapon was allowed inside..because...Fidel. Told me politics is in the family and basically runs in the blood when you grow up around it. Especially on that level. We talked about tge tom foolery that's currently going on in the White complete mockery of people who do this shit for real. You really never know who's sitting in front of you out there. Another one I found in my sister's photo stash. Me and the homie @djlokash...had to be like 3rd grade here. This is around the time my love of jazz started. Our music teacher had us make papier mache jazz musicians. My boy Lokash went on to become an international DJ...how bout that?? To the right of me is Josue...never forget I was so mad at him because he invited me to his house to play the new Nintendo when it first came out and I didn't have it. Got to his crib and he totally made that whole shit up. He just wanted a friend to hang out wit. #tbt I remember going to this show. Gil Scott-Heron, Gary Bartz and @TalibKweli performed...it was in conjuction with The National Black Writers conference @littlefieldnyc in Brooklyn. Sonia Sanchez was there in the audience and I remember she bumped me on purpose with her hip, I smiled at her..Jeffrey Wright was there but escaped before I could tell him how amazing he was playing Basquiat in the film..and also his character in the Shaft remake. That was one of the last outings I had with my mom at the theater. Pharaohe Monch was there, I remember Jean Grae tweeting from backstage what amazing show this was. At the end Gil performed "The Bottle" and brought out Kweli and Gary Bartz on saxophone to perform with him. A very special night...it was the last time I saw Gil perform as he passed away just a few months later.
