do you have any recommendations for what to look for when buying a reusable mask?

To Be Clear:  I’m a rando with a blog, not a medical professional, so this is based on my understanding of what I’ve read.  You’re probably best consulting the WHO or CDC websites for what’s safe, but as far as mask features that encourage me to wear mine every day: #1 most important feature is that it’s washable, preferably in a washing machine, becuase they need to be sanitized after every use. things like vogmasks, which have filters, aren’t washable, and certain fabrics like rayon won’t hold up very long after repeated washes. 

next most important feature is that it fully covers your nose and mouth.  the purpose of a nonmedical mask is to protect everyone else, more than it it to protect yourself, and the key to that is having good coverage.  I really reccomend masks with a wire or suchlike to bend them to the shape of your nose and cheekbones (This is also helpful if you wear glasses- bend the mask so the edge sits under the edge of your glasses to reduce fogging).  The mask should sit closely on your face- no big gaps over your cheeks, nose or under your chin. A resuable mask should also consist of at least two layers of fabric to create a fine enough mesh to precent the escape of water droplets that may carry the virus.  I’ve seen everything from Tshirts to Bedsheets to vaccuum bags but there are better charts to look up for what to use depending on your risk level, but in general, if you have two layers you’re probably good for protecting others.

After that is comfort: A mask that’s a pain to wear won’t be worn as often as it should be. make sure the fabric used is something that won’t give you a rash, the straps will sit comfortably on your head, and that it breathes at least a bit, or you’re going to suffocate lol.   I prefer ones that have elastic loops behind my ears, but my dad has hearing aids so his go around the back of his head.

ha. so, uh, this is an interesting one. on the one hand, i ship them so much i can barely even consider alternate parings for them. they’re soulmates and i immediately adore any pairing that is even a little bit like them and they love each other and they’ve tried to kill each other enough times that i didn’t try to count because i knew i would miss some and they’re each other’s becomings and each other’s downfalls

but also, i can’t read fic for them unless it’s been rec’d, and in seven years of fandom i think i’ve found.....three fics, maybe four, i don’t remember? that i can read about them, and one of them was written for me, because 99.5% of all hannigram fic ranges from ‘deeply uninteresting’ to ‘actively triggering to me’, and i feel like canon said enough of what i wanted to say about them that i don’t--actively ship hannigram in the way that i ship a lot of things, by making and seeking out content

tldr it’s complicated; i love this ship more than almost any other ship i’ve ever had but i don’t touch fandom for it really
