honestly do yourself a favor and don’t buy apple products. their warranties are a scam, their accessories are shoddy, their repair prices are predatory for the sole purpose of forcing you to buy thousand dollar replacements. the literal only advantage they had was software, and with so many shiny usable windows 10 & android products on the market, that edge is gone.

i used exclusively apple products for 20 years. it took a lot of convincing for me to consider switching: windows had some serious catching up to do. But they did catch up, remarkably so, and apple has been lagging for years. windows 10 laptops are accessible & just as fun & easy to use, there are so many brands, and they come with actual warranties. buy electronics that are designed to be repaired not replaced.

now that both my hands are free i wanted 2 elaborate: i feel for east asians, obviously i do. but every post i see discussing anti-asian racism that’s written by an east asian always forgets the rest of us. we don’t face the same things you do - talk about the scary brown person stereotype. that affects us. talk about the way our religions are seen as mystical and/or dangerous and how our cultures are constantly appropriated, even by east asians. talk about the rampant colorism among asians that often alienates south and southeast asians. talk about how we’re always forgotten in discussions about asians and what it means to be asian. talk about how our movies and our music is made fun of. anti-asian racism is a multi-faceted thing. it’s the way east asians are placed on a pedestal in comparison to us “dirty brown-skinned asians.” it’s the way one country’s culture is applauded and, yes, fetishized, while another’s is laughed at and considered “backwards.” talk about how “asian rep” often steps on the backs of asians who aren’t east asian (ex., crazy rich asians) but is still praised and awarded. we aren’t a goddamn monolith.

like even if we take only og homestuck as canon and don’t take into account the epilogues, we still have a character who:

got her entire concept of interaction and socialization from stories and TV, because she grew up without any other human being around, and so has an idealized and straightforward idea of what conflict looks like

is used to being able to set up long chains of cause-and-effect to manage the prophecies she’s given in the clouds of prospit, without the knowledge or consent of the other people involved in said prophecies

puts on a cheerful front to her friends in order to avoid conflict, to the point of repressing any negative emotions in her relationships with them

absolutely explodes when that repression has gone too far and she can’t take it anymore, and can in fact be incredibly mean during outbursts

isn’t particularly good at reading what her friends are feeling beneath their own fake exteriors (like… you can especially see this during her rare interactions with rose)

hates herself to an extreme degree, sees herself as weak or pathetic, to the point of verbally abusing and slapping an alternate version of herself when she encounters her, and represses that beneath her cheerful exterior as well

and she’s also still a good person, she’s doing her best to be good to other people, she just has flaws (which, you know, she was raised by a fucking dog, i would expect her to have some problems Being A Human In Society). but that doesn’t change the fact that she’s fundamentally predisposed to thinking of life like a story she can control. this means that, yeah, she’s not very empathic, she has a tendency to try to control other people’s actions and get incredibly frustrated when it doesn’t play out like the narrative in her head, she’s got self-esteem issues and she’s got anger and repression issues. she’s been like this since she was a little kid. it’s part of what i love about her character the most.
