“Ow!” I yelped as I lifted my hand to my forehead, rubbing the spot Sebastian had just flicked. “What was that for?”

“You were drifting off again.” Sebastian answered. “You’ve been polishing the same fork for thirty minutes.”

I sighed. “Right, sorry.”

“Something troubling you?” Sebastian asked.

“I just…I feel like Jean has been avoiding me lately.” I answered with a sigh. “He’s been working more and when he’s not working, he;s training with Napoleon. I can’t even seem to get him to talk to me.”

“I can see why that would trouble you.” Sebastian replied. “Especially when I thought things were going extremely well between you two.”

“I thought so too.” I replied. “I just keep thinking maybe I did something wrong…”

“I am sure it wasn’t anything like that.” Sebastian replied…a look on his face telling me he knew something.

“You’ve heard something.” I accused. “I should have known the butler always knows everything.”

Sebastian sighed. “I just happened to overhear a conversation between le Comte and Monsieur Jean.” He admitted. “But I don’t think I should repeat it.”

“Sebastian, please tell me what you know?” I pleaded.

He hesitated a moment before heaving a sigh. “It seems that on occasion…vampires when they have met their true love can experience…a heat if you will, especially during the spring and summer months.”

I blinked. “Heat?”

Sebastian nodded. “Yes…and it can cause such strong desires whenever they are near the person they love…so strong they may not always be able to control themselves.”

“So…you think Jean is…experiencing this and…” 

“He’s afraid he will hurt you if he gives in.” Sebastian finished my thought for me. “Often for vampires a strong desire can also come with a strong blood lust.”

“I see.” I replied, finally understanding…and having affection well up within my chest. Of course, hearing this news made up my mind for me and I began to plan what I would do. I mentally finished my plan as I finished polishing the silver.

Later that night…

After I had finished my work for the day, I took a bath before changing into a negligee and then wrapping a robe over myself before heading to Jean’s room. I was happy when I found him there. “Jean, can I come in?”

“You…you mustn’t mademoiselle.” Jean called from the other side of the door.

I opened it anyways and stepped inside. “Jean, please don’t send me away?” 

“You…you don’t know the thoughts I am having right now.” Jean replied. “You should stay away.”

“How can I stay away from the man I love?” I replied, looking at him in concern, He honestly looked like he was in pain.

“I…”

“Sebastian explained what’s going on.” I replied, stepping closer.

Jean wouldn’t look at me. “Please…I…I don’t want to end up hurting you.”

I stepped closer still, lifting my hand and bringing it to the side of his face. “Jean, I know you won’t hurt me…besides you’re the one who seems to be in pain right now.”

“I…I will survive it.” 

“But why suffer when you don’t have to?” I asked. “I love and trust you Jean. Just as I know you love me.” I was then removing my robe, letting Jean see the thin silk and lace I wore beneath. “Just take what you need to end your pain…and mine.”

Jean’s gaze drank in my form before meeting my own. 

I gave him a look that was somewhere between seductive and pleading. “Jean, it’s been torture not being with you these last few days. Please, just let us both have what we want?”

Jean’s breath caught. “Stop…looking at me like that or my knees will not hold me any longer.”

“Jean…” I breathed his name, not taking my gaze from his.

Jean seemed to debate with himself for a few moments before wrapping his arms around me and pulling me into a passionate kiss.I responded, wrapping my own arms around him and eagerly parting my lips for his prodding tongue.

I was breathless by the time Jean broke the kiss. His lips trailed down the side of my neck, over my collarbone….between my breasts. Slowly, he sank down to his knees in front of me, kissing down the front of my body as he went. 

“I am…sorry…” He murmured between kisses. “I love…you…and I only wished to…protect you…”

“Hng…I know…you wouldn’t…hurt me…Jean…I love you…too.” I replied breathlessly, my hands going to play in his beautiful locks.

His fingers teased at my thigh through the slit in my clothes before his lips soon joined the party. “I will…hold myself back…as much as I can…”

“No…take…take what you need Jean…I want it…too.”

Jean looked up at me, his one visible eye widened a moment before narrowing in affection. He kissed my thigh once again even as he moved his hands to brace my hips. I soon felt the sharp pang in my thigh. That pang only lasted a moment as the pleasure soon washed over me.

“Ngh…Ah…Jean!” I cried out as he drank from my thigh. As the pleasure wracked my body, i could feel my legs beginning to tremble.

Jean gasped before taking off his clothes and then positioning himself over me. “I should never forget…how much you love me.” He said as he took me in his arms and kissed me.

I wrapped my arms around him, pressing myself closer as our kiss deepened. I traced my fingertips over his strong back. I moaned into the kiss when I felt his fingers slip inside the slit of my negligee, teasing my thigh before moving to my clit.

“Ngh…Jean!” I moaned with each stroke of his skillful fingers against my sensitive bud. Even more moans escaped me when he slid two fingers inside.

“This is nice.” Jean smiled as you sipped your drinks – hot mulled wine – by the fire.

Jean was right. It was nice. After a delicious dinner and dessert celebrating Jean's birthday, you and Jean had somehow found yourselves alone in the great room. 

By chance or some small miracle, everyone in the mansion had plans after dessert. Not that you had any complaints. This was your fifth birthday with Jean. And while that number was small and meaningless in the life of a vampire, to a human like yourself, it held far more meaning. 

When you really thought about it, five years passed by quite fast. One day, you were teaching Jean how to read, and the next you were teaching him how best to pleasure you. 

In a mansion with a dozen residents, it was rare to have a quiet evening alone. And for it to be on Jean's birthday, it was a true gift.

“Happy Birthday, Jean,” you whispered, pressing a kiss to his cheek. Pulling back, you smiled as his cheeks tinged with pink. Still, after all this time, Jean's innocence was still visible. Even when you were alone together. 

Placing your drink on the table, you pulled a blanket to cover your bodies; you snuggled close to your lover, resting your head on his shoulder. 

Jean stroked your hair gently with his long fingers. You didn't have to look up to know his lips were curved in a smile. 

It was just one of those things you knew after loving someone for so long.
