Il Vero
Two years later than everywhere else but the music scene in Italy was changing now. Nicolas could hear it, by now he could feel it. It made him travel further south, following instinct and sound.
While he might have first learned how to play the guitar in a different country for reasons of his own, it still served him well now. He had brought his violin along tonight as well but it laid abandoned on a bench while he was up on stage, playing along with the band.
His skill was obvious and entertained the musicians as well as the audience. They goaded him into playing faster and stranger and perhaps if it wasn't for the way his nails were painted black and eyes smeared with kohl, his otherness would have been more apparent. Style choices that marked him as an outsider but they also helped with hiding his vampiric nature. None of the mortals here were sober, which meant that no one paid enough attention to notice that there was a thin sheen of blood covering him in place of sweat.
