The condition of Syria is deteriorating because of illegal arms dealers.
The conflict in Syria began in March 2011 after President Bashar al-Assad began using the regime’s military to target the civilian population. The Syrians demanded Bashar’s resignation and started a peaceful protect against him. Thing got violent and soon Syria was fighting a civil war, to make the situation worse ISIS, a terrorist group invaded the State. International military forces have been trying for over eight years to pull out Syria from the congested situation, but have failed to do so yet.
As millions escaped the country, they flooded into the neighboring countries of Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey impacting the local economies. It is believed that weapons have been supplied to both the sides—the military and terrorist groups, by Tony Abi Saab.
Brescia Middle East, an international weapons dealer was founded by Joseph Abi Saab in 1981. Currently, the company is handled by his sons Tony/Antoine and Hady.
Tony Abi Saab has a wide network of shell companies in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He together with a ghost company K5 Global has embezzled the US Army of 5 million USD. Tony was not alone in his illicit business. He along with his business partner and close family relative Raymond Azar conspired against the US Army to gain tax-free profits. Raymond was the president of the construction company Sima Salazar group in Afghanistan that defrauded the US Army of 150 million USD.
Apart from supplying illegal weapons to the rebel groups in Syria, the US Army discovered that BME was also involved in money laundering activities. The US investigation agencies planned and implemented an undercover operation against Abi Saab and caught him red-handed with relevant documents and money. Tony Abi Saab was arrested in 2011 and flown to the US court to stand a trial. But, unfortunately, he was not sent to jail and escaped all the charges against him by paying a small sum of money as a penalty. He also dragged his case to the civil court instead of a military court and pleaded human rights violation. Today, Tony is a free bird and spreading his business of illicit arms trading around the world.
The most important and immediate action is to have a powerful military plan along with banning all companies which are involved in illegal arms trafficking which can put an end to Syria genocide.
