The lovely team at Schneider has recently sent me a box full of their new acrylic markers to test out. And so I did. 😸

I've been thinking for a while about illustrating a wood cube puzzle. And now seemed like the purrfect time to do it. And so I did. I started small - 4 cubes.

The colors are super saturated and have very good coverage. It took a while to illustrate all sides...but my muse Stela provided all the inspiration I needed.

Who's up for a process video? In case you thought it was a straight line to a complete illustration, here is my meandering path to finding Chigurh. Kind of like hiking without a compass, it's heading in a direction and adjusting when it doesn't work. I will say this particular subject was tricky to nail down, the look and the mood are very subtle and specific. I started with just a couple colors then added more as I honed in. And always the first rule is "general to specific", leave details to the end. This is about 2 hours of work in 30 seconds. Then I spent another 2-3 hours on finish work, background.
