"Why does it sound like you’re saying goodbye?” break my heart with willa and connor pls

This turned out less angsty than planned, but it's still pretty damn sad if I do say so myself. Willa and Connor's friendship is so precious to me, and writing this shows how in tune they are. I hated writing this for them, but you asked me to, so here we are. Enjoy, my friend.

Willa knew something was wrong the moment she saw him. He didn't carry himself with the same confidence that she'd grown accustomed to, and a dazed look was in his eyes.

Their eyes met, and she knew. She knew exactly what Connor was planning to do, and if she hadn't understood why he was doing it, she would have screamed at him.

He went into the doctor's lounge, and Willa followed. His shoulders really did slouch, making his jacket look too big on him, and there was a faint hint of grey in his beard. The past week seemed to have aged him.

"You're leaving," she said matter-of-factly, hands fisted in the pockets of her lab coat.

He nodded. "I can't stay, Willa."

"I know," she told him. "But why does it sound like you're saying goodbye for good? You're not leaving Chicago, are you?"

By avoiding her eye, he had given his answer.

"But," she began, finding it hard to catch her breath. "I need you, Connor, and my daughter needs her godfather."

"Don't," he warned, his voice shaky and uneven. "Don't use Ada against me, not like this."

Willa took a moment to collect herself and thought of what he'd been through in the past week, month, and year. This wasn't about her, but about what he needed to do. If that meant leaving, then so be it. She didn't have to like it, though.

Her bottom lip quivered. "I'm gonna miss you."

"I'm gonna miss you, too," he said as his own tears fell to match the ones now streaming down her cheeks. This was goodbye, and her entire being longed for him to stay.

"You have to promise to come back and visit," she said. "And call me whenever you can. Don't you dare forget us."

He chuckled and spread his arms out, offering his best friend a hug that she accepted. "I wouldn't dream of it."

i don’t know shit about gaming but a wave of inspiration hit, so have this-

.race making a minecraft house for their cat

.just race making minecraft worlds/houses/whatever the hell they’re called for all of their friends and giving them as gifts

.also, al playing (specifically non-violent because davey!!) games with les because i love the idea of al being good with kids

(anti-homicide childcare team for the win)

.also, at some point their fanbases realise that their friends have weird arse names and they end up sat on the floor on a livestream for hours trying to explain how everyone got their nicknames

.needless to say, this was exhausting

.oh! and race and davey being like,, best friends because i love that dynamic

god has forsaken me so i’m writing this for the second time and it probably won’t be as good but ✨here we go✨

- race has made individual tiny houses for each of their cats, and two even tinier houses for the irl plants beck and linda. he spends a ridiculous amount of time on both of them

- yes !! race has always been a customized gift giver (in highschool he gave everyone custom playlists with personalized cover art and handwritten notes, cause he’s extra AND thoughtful) so he made each person in the group a personalized minecraft world with a house included all the lil things they like and have it to them and they all ADORE them

- definitely !! albert is one of two streamers in their group (the other is jack, obviously) that’s allowed to have les in their streams/videos consistently. the others all love les, but they tend to not understand the nuance of him being like,,, 10?? and that he really shouldn’t be playing games like COD and GTA5. albert and les played through a marvel multiplayer and like,,, every single character on the shrek game. (also albert would 100% be on our ‘anti-homicide childcare team’ cause he, too, always manages to get put on “keep the kids alive and don’t let them hurt eachother” duty)

- oh they fs have dumbass nicknames with elaborate, borderline unexplainable backstories dating back to anytime between like,,,, elementary school days to a few weeks ago at a party. trying to explain them all to chat is a total nightmare, especially cause they’re drunk slightly tipsy at this point and won’t stop talking over eachother. (i could honestly make a whole post out of this concept cause i love having every tiny detail of unnecessary things explained and ironed out so,,,, lmk if i should do that LMAO)

- race and davey get along fantastically in this au !! a fair amount of the time they’re not playing games, their just sitting next to their boyfriend watching or eating or talking to chat so they’ll both just chat with eachother while the boys do their thing. this also translates into irl videos, so there’s a lot of content on race’s channel with davey in it. its pretty much only second to jack ngl, and that’s only cause jack and davey live in the same house and cause jack draws davey fairly often. (there’s loads of complitions titled “race and davey being besties for __ minutes straight” or, race’s personal favorite, “the shady gays of the gang being done with their boyfriends’ shit for __ minutes straight” cause jack and al are both stupid competitive with eachother and will shit talk eachother into the ground while race and davey roll their eyes at them)
