Canon Mark isn't traumatised enough imo. Like even if EP Mark didn't lose Robin for a while, I'd still be writing him more fucked up than in canon, because I love exploring trauma and how it can affect different characters. I do love that canon has that aspect, I just want to take it further since the fic is primarily a romance/drama, so it's a different genre and stakes from canon.
And yh EP Mark having the Robin aspect? Part 2 is the escalation section For Real. They genuinely get very unhinged about each other fast, and not all in a cute way - I use the 'orbiting' metaphor because if either lost the other, they'd immediately spiral out (and fuck up anything - innocent or otherwise - in their path).
