Everyone has a story. Some sad, others happy. Some long, others short. Some a fairytale, others a nightmare. We cannot control how our stories end, but we can control what memories make up our stories. Our story began beautifully. All it took was one of your smiles, on sparkle from your eyes and I was head over heels. You made me smile like I'd never smiled before, laugh louder, feel lighter, like nothing could ever hurt me again. Maybe you didn't mean any of it, maybe you just wanted a fling or maybe you just meant for us to be friends. But when it was time for you to go back home, you didn't just leave me behind, but left everything we had. You put all your feelings in a box and locked it tight, then threw away the key. You left me crying on the floor with nothing but memories and a broken heart. Maybe things will be better off this way, but that doesn't stop the constant pain in my heart because I found someone who I could see spending the rest of my life with but you wanted us to be "just friends."
