I think one of the things that really made me love Crystal Story 2 was that the entire time, D’s situation was never  “for the greater good.” When D says he can’t go back to the dragons, it’s easy to consider it a self-sacrifice for sake of fighting the good fight, but that’s really not how it is.

From the moment I found out that D was ‘just an initiate’ that’s when it hit.

The other dragons don’t really care for the humans, else they’d have either sent more than just D, or someone who was higher ranked.

It was never for ‘a greater good,’ rather, it was near entirely from a place of love and compassion.

D didn’t choose to help people for duty’s sake, he chose to help because he cared.
