I feel like it would be so much fun if reader was a disciple of a justice sect, and even more fun if reader had some kind of close relationship to Chung Myung and the gang. Doesn't matter wether you're a Mount Hua disciple specifically or not.
Im Sobyeong didn't even dare to think about you that way, as you were far out of his league. And! Most importantly, Chung Myung would kill him before he could make a step, obviously.
I mean how could he let such disaster happen? A sapa and a disciple of a justice sect together? Not in seven hells.
Such a good thing that you're stubborn enough on your own.
Others be tearing their hair out while watching you act weird, very intentionally weird, around that sapa guy.
Like,, poking his shoulder now and then to get his attention. Twirling your hair and deliberately drifting your eyes all over his face. And smiling more than usual.
Im Sobyeong caught the signs, if I may say, almost immediately. He's a strategist, and strategists notice even the finest details. He's smart and cunning and has keen eyes. Of course he caught your flirting!
There's one problem though. He really does appreciate his life and doesn't want to die under unknown circumstances.
So every time you flirt with him pretty obviously. Fix the rim of his already neat robes, or lower the fan he usually hides half of his face behind with a fingertip. He's more panicking on the inside rather than flustered or something. Because he could already hear the sound of swords and weapons unsheathe.
Little did he know that you loved that reaction more than you could have ever imagined? Maybe it perplexed you a little at the beginning but as time went on you started to view it as funny and maybe cute and so begun seeking more of it.
So yeah, not stopping the others when they actively terrorized him? Yes, you turned a blind eye on that and enjoyed the chaos.
Tang Soso tried introducing you to other gentlemen at some point, but that was pretty late. Maybe she would've reached somewhere if she's tried that earlier, who knows.
Others around you would do anything to avoid you and Im Sobyeong being together alone. Part of those people are kinda worried for Im Sobyeong's safety, your friends are trying so hard not to deliberately and so out of spite unleash their mad dog (aka Chung Myung) on Im Sobyeong.
If Im Sobyeong touched you by accident, and after a short pause for the sake of realization, you'll immediately act all cutesy and sweet about it just to get on his nerves.
Watching him panic internally and a little externally became your favorite hobby before you even realize.
The only times when he would accept a touch from her without panicking or worrying about his head flying away are when on the battlefield, and maybe after getting beaten up (during training or any other occasions of that genre.)
And maybe, he doesn't mind it a lot when you wipe the blood off of his lips and chin with your handkerchief? I mean, he doesn't really care that people usually take a step back when a fit of coughing catches him. But it's still nice (in a strange way) receiving that kind of attention now and then.
He actually thinks you're not so smart for targeting him when there are all those handsome and muscular men around you.
He finds himself engaging in stupid conversations with you and once he snaps out of it.. he wonders if you've infected him.
Once you took things a little too far and had the audacity to be surprised that he got really flustered.
It's hard for him to look you in the eyes when you're openly being flirty, wether out of feeling shy or nervous. (He's struggling internally in both cases)
He tried flirting back few times maybe and found out he's not so good at it (even though you acted all shy and giggles about it and probably told everyone). Honestly that was a hit to his pride and he made a mental not to educate himself more of the art of flirting.
His flirting is either tucking a strand of hair behind your ear when it's getting in the way, or lifting your chin with the tip of his fan (too rare btw).
Not that he wanted to flirt with you,, he just had to fight back! :')
Shit, he kinda likes you.
Once you snatched that damned fan, which happened to be one of his favorites, just for a little tease but ended up placing a little kiss on the part that he usually rests against his chin or lips whilst thinking deeply. Of course you had a little bit of lipstick on at that time.
Im Sobyeong can't stop thinking about it. He keeps that fan next to his bed or somewhere tucked in his robe, and doesn't use it as much as he used to do before.
I mean, what if it breaks?
He caught himself staring a couple of times and swore that this would never happen again. Guess what.
He caught himself getting jealous a couple of times too, not very strategic of him. Defo not happening again. Guess what.
What's holding him back? The thought of how much time it would take for you to lose interest in him because this whole thing feels too good in a very unsettling way. And a good strategist can't let his guard down especially when things seem to be going too good! (And maybe he's a little insecure,, please hug him tight)
He doesn't blush easily, but when you push him hard enough, he acts like a shy maiden, damnit :q
He pays attention to everything that includes you and knows a lot of things about you that you might not even remember or notice.
The exact amount of alcohol it would take for you to get drunk. The accessories you prefer to wear even if you don't put them much often. That certain smile you wear when you find something confusing. And the certain words you use a lot while speaking, like "shut up" or "yeah, and?".
He never thought he needed you to twirl his hair for him until you did it. Gave him chills. Do it again.
Shit, he likes you a lot.
The problem now? You're too stubborn to make the first move yourself, yet he can't really complain because you are the one who took on most of the flirting work till now.
So when he kissed you first, it was too sudden and too quick and rushed. More like a peck to be specific, maybe with a cheesy line he read in some book. It so took you off guard and that was the first time ever that he saw you flustered.
Im Sobyeong never regretted it.
He actually did it again.
And maybe that was the first time he let his guard down while facing a situation too good to be true.

This didn't take me much time, and I answered it quickly because I separate short stories from hcs (it's like, they have different waiting lines or smth). Hcs are much easier to make so I use them as a kind of break from writing, they don't burn as much braincells for me as actual stories does hehe (feels like I worded that weirdly but wtv)
