imaboremostly replied to your post “it’s funny how cdpr b&w takes regis as a character very seriously and...”
Game Regis seems so uncomfortable all the time and expresses how he always has to be on edge around humans and I guess that’s true for book Regis as well but in the books he seemed a LOT more relaxed and I also don’t remember him ever mentioning how he misses „his world“. Like what was that all about anyways cdpr?
true... books regis said fuck it, named all of the species of vampires in front of a witcher, and continued to taunt said witcher by whippin out the sarcasm when he was revealed.
the thing is that the regis we meet in the books is not very concerned about himself... a lifetime ago he was, but now he preoccupies himself with caring for others. it’s rarely about how he feels, even if he feels great fear or anxiety: he confesses that he was stricken with fear during the battle of the bridge, that he felt cowardice. he also feels great unease when they are about to entire beauclair. but he doesn’t hesitate to act in favor of the greater good. he acted, without thinking, to help milva when she needed assistance. he yielded to geralt about entering beauclair, because he knew it was essential for the company’s survival and goal. so even if he felt this unease around humans, which is unlikely for multiple reasons including that he’s the only member of the hansa that owns a house and shop in a busy portside city that presumably serves that human community, and the fact that he is so open towards the hansa, even IF he felt this unease, it wouldn’t be a big deal, because regis doesn’t make things about himself.
also yeah he never mentions missing any kind of old world in the books, the only thing close is that he describes himself as a “descendant of survivors, unfortunate beings trapped here after the cataclysm you call the conjunction of the spheres.” he does use the word ‘trapped,’ but he’s also being a lil bitch in this statement, because he’s mocking geralt. it’s overdramatic phrasing for an overdramatic reveal. but also note that he says ‘decendant of survivors,’ because he is only a bit over 4 centuries old and the conjunction of spheres was more than a thousand years ago. so. there is literally no logical way for him to have experienced the pre-conjunction world, because he is simply too young.
tldr the man gives haircuts and sews wounds up for a living for fuck’s sake, he doesn’t loathe humanity, he’s the epitome of it
