Ok - so its been a lifetime since I posted on Tumblr lol but I thought why not start again. I haven't quite figured my way around here, but I figure I can figure it out as I go. So to start with, I wanted to post one of my newest paintings - Moon Fishers. I really love how this painting turned out. I really feel in love with this mysterious beautiful world of quiet moon fishing, with her little pack of dragons. This painting came to mind when I was looking at photos of Cambodian fishers with their cormorant birds which already looks so fantastical and beautiful to me - and it made me imagine an even more fantastical version of this with a little magic in the moonlight. I hope this painting brings you some of the same feelings of wonder and curiosity that it did for me. <3

NYX was the goddess of the night, one of the primordial gods (protogenoi) who emerged as the dawn of creation.

In ancient art Nyx was depicted as a either a winged goddess or charioteer, sometimes crowned with an aureole of dark mists. As the goddess of night, Nyx held dominion over the shadowy realms and everything that occurred under her dark veil. She was known to govern dreams, prophecies, and the passage of time during the night.

After listening to Chanmina’s the First Take performance of “Bijin”, I had a burning desire to create a drawing of a powerful figure directly staring back at us with piercing gaze. I’d like to think female nudes are more than just an object being appreciated for its beauty.
