Humiliation was the primary pedagogy of your childhood. You were taught through shame. You were corrected through degradation. You learned that to be seen was to be found wanting, and to be found wanting was to be humiliated.
Is it such a wonder to see you be swallowed up by shame? To live in the swamp of it? To look at others and wonder why do they act like they can't feel it, dragging them down to the bottom too?
