After four months of planning and multitude of logistical hurdles, I can finally reveal my piece for “Immerse” 2017. Immerse is a celebration of 30 artists over 30 days in the City of Knox. The festival opens Nov 1st. This piece is located at Knox Lesuire Works, Tormore Rd Boronia. At an estimated 155mtrs2, it’s my biggest and most challenging piece I’ve ever produced. Peoples choice voting opens soon. Please vote for me if you can find the time. http://www.knox.vic.gov.au/Immerse “Breathe” by @kilproductions Direct to surface aerosol acrylics. Artist Statement/ “Breathe” By @kilproductions. Knox Leisure Centre, Immerse 2017. I’ve dived in, so deep; it needs to be perfect, so much judgement but only one that matters. I could drown here, my eyes fall against my opposition, I won’t worry who I am or what I'll become or who I might never be. I’m trapped within my own freedom, I move with robotic precision but organic fluidity. Stroke after stroke nailed to perfection, I breathe loud, I breathe harder, pushing myself, digging deeper, I just need more. Sometimes clawing back to the surface is so dramatic, I feel lost in a sea of deep blue, aqua, navy. Those hazes; they will be temporary, its fear letting me know I am alive. The journey seems impossible yet with each stroke I feel like I the end is near. Or is it? I’m up against it, alone and the vision isn’t clear until I focus on what I am doing, what do I want to achieve? Breathe, breathe, believe. This is who I am, I am art, I am the artist, I am “Immersed”. “Breathe” is a journey into the life of an artist at work, overlaying with the environment in design and context. The challenges we face, the journey, the obstacles and judgement.
