about the living biotic field emitter!Jack: what if Jack's new condition gives him side effects? like, now he produces too much blood, so he has to regularly donate a bit, or he can't stay still/silent/focused because he has a lot of energy that he can't burn, but standing near someone (specially Reaper) makes it more tolerable?

Okay, about the blood, I wouldn’t think so, the serum+nanites keep Jackie in top optimal condition at all times. But other drawbacks are a great idea! 

Like, he has problems sleeping. The nanites keep him energised on their own schedule and when the ‘down time’ happens he can’t do nothing about it. He goes into stasis for a time - dragging him our of it interrupts the recharge time and messes up the whole process. Same with Jack pushing through it - can’t rest until the mission of over - the nanites keep him going, but only to a point and then have to crash. And he doesn’t get tired, so he never goes to bed because he feels like it. 

What of they’re sun-powered? I imagine that in the future 90% of things are sun-powered. does it mean that Jack has to sun himself for a certain time? say, has to ditch the jacket and go around guns-out, because energy needed;] 

I love the idea about the ‘healing feels good’. Imagine it really does and Jack’s mind very quickly gets addicted to the feeling a healing someone gives him? People around him feel awkward, but at the same time so good and the old soldier in the new shell has to come to grips with it. 

And when he heals Gabe - it’s ecstatic! And it’s terrible, because jack is too old for that :O

clearly this is in demand so here we go!

- tons of jack’s old paintings are in museums, and he loves to go stand there in front of them and muse with strangers about how incredible this mysterious artist, lost to the ages, must’ve been.

- he hates when his pieces end up in private collections bc he’d rather let the public enjoy them— at some point or another, he’s definitely stolen his own work and eventually donated it back to a museum once it’s been long enough that he won’t get in trouble, he’ll just get praised for recovering a long-lost painting

- when davey was younger, he was a certified Weird Kid who wholeheartedly believed in fantasy magic until he was almost in high school. like, he literally didn’t even celebrate christmas but still cried upon finding out santa wasn’t real (which didn’t happen until he was like 12 bc no one ever thought to tell him) and in elementary he was always the kid roleplaying warrior cats or some shit a little too intensely at recess. even as an adult, he still gets a little thrill at the thought of “ok but what if magic was real??”

- jack, race, and medda go on family vacations every few years, but they’ve all already seen so much of the world in their hundreds of years, that their go-to at this point is to pick an all-inclusive resort somewhere tropical. medda is insistent that the only thing that doesn’t get old after being around for this long is lounging on a beach with a cocktail, so that’s exactly what she does. race is still fifteen at heart, and he inevitably gets annoyed and embarrassed by his family and ends up playing volleyball somewhere with other kids. jack likes to go off on guided tours of things he’s seen before just to see how much the tour company gets wrong.

- race has a significantly easier time keeping up with changing trends and technology than jack EVER has, but that still doesn’t mean he’s any good at it. to jack and medda, race is very impressively young and hip… to actual teenagers, race is the weird “old soul” mf who still can’t figure out how to use tiktok like a normal high schooler

how did jack react to the development of his magical powers? and when did he first notice them?

ooooo good question!!

- he noticed them when he was approx. 400(?) years old, and up til then he’d just been getting by within his own honest means, as best he could (he was good at painting and decent at farming but times were hard so he was really just doing what he could)

- being poor in europe in the 1700s fucking SUCKED and while unable to die, our boy can still feel pain and starving to near-death was… unpleasant. he was kinda just like “god i wish i had something to EAT!!” and then the historically accurate equivilant of a PB&J was there in his hand and he was like what the fuck

- naturally he started to experiment...... it took some practice but eventually he realized he could materialize pretty much anything if he thought hard enough about it. including money!!! no more being poor, bitch!!!

- so he just took the powers and ran with them, getting better at them as he went, and when he eventually met medda in the next century he was like shit we doin MAGIC magic?? bc she could do way cooler stuff than him, and the rest is history!
