Hello. IMO Team has just finished their Visual Novella, Hello Girl. It is a story about absence, tension, yearning, friendship, love, and growth set upon the backdrop of border skirmishes and government conspiracy. The expanded Steam release comes as a sort of Director's Cut, with additional story that was cut for timeliness in the initial release, and with additional illustrations and scene CGs. IMO Team is comprised of some of my closest friends, and I have read and reread their story in its initial release twice now. Both times it found me in strange portions of my life where it felt uniquely relevant - first when I was reconnecting with my estranged parents, and second when I was leaving the Navy. I hope you will consider the small price to hear the story. I hope it finds you somewhere unique and relevant, like it did me. You can read Hello Girl Here.
The Steam Release of Hello Girl is coming out shortly. There's a trailer for it. I can't tell you how good Hello Girl is as a story. When I read it, I was reconnecting with my family for the first time in twelve years. I think that is very much the sort of feeling it sort of captures. When I read it the second time, I was escaping the Navy. I think that is very much the sort of feeling it sort of captures.
It is a story driven by its beautiful cast. I have met some of these people in real life, over the course of my time in the Navy. And I hope I am some of these people, as I grow up outside of it. If you have ever felt disenfranchised and marginalized by conflict. If you have ever yearned for family or belonging or a letter. If you have ever felt the strange comforting loneliness of the American midwest. If you have ever been a rabbit with a telephone. This is the story for you. I made a silly joke two days about that effectively amounted to, "What if Ana Lapine's Alkaline Corp bike were really, really modified and not just slightly uptuned?"
I haven't really taken any screenshots during Hello Girl yet, and I figure I'll probably read through it again after we're done on stream, but it's got a really distinct look because of mentha's really distinct style. I grabbed this from the steam page trailer.
It's got the sort of vibe that specifically makes me want to see what's up with it. When I noticed it'd been released I bought it on steam. I probably would have been better do have done it from itch but who knows anymore. Maybe I'll buy it there too.
The writing hits for me sometimes and it's awkward in others but I respect an honest effort and you can really feel the investment from the writers and team.
