Watching the last snk season is like an out of body experience, and this comes from being up to date with the manga and knowing where its leading but still. STILL. the format is everything. I've been reading your tags in the snk posts and finding them so relatable - and I was wondering, have YOU read the manga? Do you know where the plot is going?
YES it really is an Experience, isn’t it. HOWEVER, i haven’t read the manga so i have absolutely no idea where it’s going. i had to watch a recap video to understand the plot up until now. but for the first time, i actually get the story. somehow i assumed it would be a whole ass mess, but it all makes a surprising amount of sense. (spoiler ok the only manga thing i know is eren is on a genocide run or something right now but i don’t really know what that means)
i really really like everything so far in the anime though. i’m remembering now that the studio changed over to mappa this season and they really nailed the super jarring tone, the propagandistic feel, war and politics, more war, more politics, the absolute fucking trauma that everyone is going through. it’s jumpy and weird but still coherent somehow. they went balls deep, frankly. and i just appreciate that so hard. snk has aged like fine wine and i know that it won’t be a lot of people’s thing anymore. i don’t know if 7 years ago i would’ve liked where it went if i binged it all at once until where it is now. it’s sort of depressing and the OP already gives me freaky feelings. but engaging with the mid-seasons of snk semi-irregularly and kinda growing slowly with it and seeing characters break and die emotionally and myself growing old and senile, this is the kinda thing i’m into now. so yeah ummm! i guess what i’m saying is i’m no longer the fandom fan i was during back in s1, but i’m watching it like watching my kid grow up. i’m enjoying it!
