i wasn’t necessarily thinking the american version as they’re not american but yes this could work
douglas as the older more genre-specific musician and martin as the younger top 40 one, and they have a weird rivalry/friendship/sexual tension thing going on (and maybe douglas is a little bit jealous that martin gets picked more at least a little bit due to being young and hot and popular with the younger crowd)
and then there’s arthur, who turns around the most frequently and he’s popular as a coach choice because he’s cheerful and super encouraging. and carolyn who turns around the least frequently, and is kind of intimidating but in that sort of ‘she’s the queen of the business’ way. everyone looks up to her and her knowledge and almost everyone she’s turned for has never not picked her as coach
