Ironwood is no-good

During Ironwood's Post-Beacon scenes, whenever he hits something, it's always been out of frustration at his impotence. And it's always been followed up by him making a decision with negative effects on his kingdom. First, in Jacques' office before closing the borders. Then, in his own office before ordering Robyn's arrest. And again in his office, just before he turns on Team RWBY. But each time while there is damage, the desk is still whole, symbolizing that there is still a chance to fix things.

So of course, he destroys his entire computer terminal just before making a choice that brings his entire kingdom to total ruin. And while the bomb he's threatening to use on Mantle is stopped, his decision to drop it sets off a chain-reaction of events that hand Salem the very victory he wanted to prevent.

Es la condena de vivir repasando la misma escena en tu cabeza, una y otra vez, cambiando las piezas, cambiando las palabras del pasado, como si eso pudiera arreglar un presente que hoy ya está roto.

Tal vez solo a mí me pase, pero joder, me siento tan vacía. Siento que pude haber hecho algo más. Aunque lo di todo... y ahí es donde duele el doble, porque si no hubiera hecho nada tendría una excusa. Pero darlo todo y aun así fallar te deja desnuda frente al espejo.

Te queda esa pregunta: ¿De qué sirve dar el máximo si el máximo no alcanza?

Y entonces el vacío no es por lo que no hiciste, sino por la sospecha de que quizás nunca hubo una versión de ti que pudiera cambiar lo inevitable. O quizás sí la hubo, pero se quedó dormida justo en ese segundo en el que el mundo decidió romperse. Me quedo aquí, con las manos abiertas llenas de un esfuerzo que ya no sirve para nada.
