Hey, people! This is my fourth fill for @sambuckyhalloweenbingo2022 for the prompts "Pumpkins", "Movie Night", and "Witching Hour". This will be for my @winterfalconweek WinterFalcon Bingo Round 2 Card for the fill K1 "Spell Gone Wrong". This is also a Halloween romcom I made inspired by the film Practical Magic and gifted to @elektraking. Enjoy this little Practical Magic inspired romcom! 🥰

“This? This happens all the time, don’t worry about me,” said Bucky, but Sam knew that was wrong, he knew it as he kept holding Bucky’s hand even after Bucky was fully standing, “Are you okay? Those pumpkins flew everywhere.” This wasn’t happening to Sam. “Mr. Bucky, where should we put the pumpkins?” asked AJ as he and Cass held armfuls of pumpkins in their hands. “Oh. Uh. There’s a pile in the back,” explained Bucky as he released Sam’s hand and started to gather some of the pumpkins from Sam’s nephew’s arms, “I got these, don’t you worry – ” Bucky toppled over his broken booth again, and Sam knew it to be true. He knew what he had feared had come to pass. Sam wasn’t going to let it happen.

The hippogriff storms towards them, hooves flashing and claws shining. And Willow stares straight back at it, and smirks. 

In that moment, Angelica is struck with the distinct impression that the Beast has made a mistake that it will sorely regret. 

And it lunges.

And it is met with what is, essentially, a blade of fire that slices neatly through its neck and then tries to swallow the rest of the body in flames. Without pausing to check herself for injury, Willow turns to Angelica and, with pride streaked with minor concern written across her face, asks Angelica

“Are you ok?”

Now, normally this question would get an answer (even if the answer is something like “no of course not you asshole, the damn thing stood on me!”) however, Willow has just saved Angelica’s life and looked very cool doing so, and Angelica is very aware of the fact that Willow A) is flushed and panting slightly and B) looks very, very, attractive. Angelica quickly becomes aware of a third thing concerning Willow. A thing that starts with “c” and rhymes with “brush” 

So instead of a regular response, Willow gets a half-strangled whine followed by Angelica clearing her throats and nodding. 

Needless to say this confuses her slightly.

My iPad died for several days and it just got fixed. This was cathartic.

Anyway. This is Angelica from a thing I’m writing. It’s essentially a Harry Potter ripoff by someone who’s never read/watched Harry Potter. Also a fixit for some of my least favourite tropes. Angelica is the only child of rich evil characters who immediately recognises this and the fact that they’re absolutely awful to her and so goes and befriends the Chosen One to help take down the Looming Evil.

The words there are the tail end of her first speech thing: “Hello, I’m Angelica of Balintore. Look, I know you’re…the chosen one or whatever you want to call it, and my family is firmly on the side you’re meant to defeat; my family even told me to spy on you and sabotage you and such. But they’ve been controlling me my entire life. My father’s never had a conversation with me that didn’t involve criticising me, and when I told my mother I’m bi she only didn’t cast me out of the family because I could still end up with a guy. So, quite frankly, fuck my parents. Want to try being actual friends?”

Review:

Small town romance featuring a witch who is estranged from her sisters returning home after ten years to face both her family and her best friend/crush she left behind. Scarlett Melrose receives a call from her estranged sister telling her to come home to Oak Haven because magic has gone awry. Scarlett left 10 years ago and never looked back after an incident that caused their father to pass away and Scarlett blamed herself ever since then. Scarlett is scared to face both her family and her old flame/friend, Nate. Yet when her spell to fix everything goes wrong its up to Scarlett to finally face the magical mess and try and make it work this time. This was a super slow burn small town witchy romance. I would say for me it just felt too slow burn and a bit too slow for my liking. The story never really felt like it was moving and the actual book felt like it was dragging for the most part. The romance is suppose to be slow burn but feels nonexistent at this point. I really wish I could like this more but it felt like a miss for me. If you like super slow burn small town witchy romances definitely give it a go, maybe you'll have a better time with it than I did.
