Research // Inagh Free Range Farm  Inagh Free Range Farm is a small, non intensive farm in Clare, Ireland. They are a true free range farm, unlike commercial “free range” farms, their pigs are allowed to roam, root, and carry out other natural behaviours. Their males are not castrated, the tails are not docked, and their noses are not ringed.   Seeing all of these pigs so happy was incredibly sweet. As soon as they noticed us they walked right up to us, making noises to get our attention. As the farmer was talking to us about the different breeds he has, the young Durocs started to pile on top of each other to lay in the sun. Pigs are very social, just like dogs.   They recently got two pigs that were from commercial farms. Both of them have their tails docked, and one of them has their ears bitten. The farmer explained that it takes them quite a while to get used to their new surroundings, even sunlight alone can be scary for them.   They offer a “Pig Keeping Course”, which is a one day course that teaches you everything you need to know about raising pigs. They also have a “Hatch 4 Schools Programme”, where they deliver fertilised eggs along with all the things needed to care for them to schools.
