Alright so something which I've been waiting for people to mention is the theme of mermaids and sirens on Star Trek Picard.

I mean the ship is named La Sirena.

Captain Rios has a mermaid tattoo on his arm and in his quarters in the one episode there were numerous mermaid ceramics and figurines.

What are they trying to to tell us?

Do space mermaids exist?!?!?! Or is there a really interesting and intricate space lore on mermaids?!?!?!

I hope they talk about this in season 2. Because goddammit I really want space mermaids especially since they've already had numerous space creatures.

*Bonus points if the space mermaids are hauntingly beautiful and terrifying at the same time.
