This is good news! In Awe Of God There are many reasons to stand in awe of God. He creates everything simply by speaking and continues to rule over all (Job 25:2). We can also be in wonder because of the wisdom he grants us (1 Kings 3:28). And because of his laws, which reflect his perfection and holiness (Psalm 129:120). God has amazing power worthy of our deepest respect (Ecclesiastes 5:1-7). His very name should cause us to reflect on who he is and the scope of what he has done for us (Malachi 2:5). Why is it so easy then for us to neglect to give God the respect he so deserves? Fear that comes from a recognition of sins is a natural reaction—but fear is uncomfortable, and it is easy for us to avoid the issue altogether! When we remember that Jesus died for our sins, however, we realize that we have no reason to be afraid of him!
