A much more wintery day today compared to those blue sky photos from Friday and Saturday. It has looked like this since last night, except before there was pouring rain turned freezing rain turned ice turned snow turned freezing rain and ice again. The fog rolled in as my hubby drove Mule Pass to and from Sierra Vista earlier so I am very thankful he is home safe now. Trailer is dropped off, new info from and ally at local corporate location helping us out, stuff moved in... All over the place but it means it is 100% official. All our things are in Bisbee and we don't have to go anywhere for a while (except Colorado briefly for our work on Leafleur Magazine and belated birthday celebrations). No place has ever felt so much like home to either of us ever until Bisbee. We have teared up multiple times thinking about how hard we worked and how much we sacrificed to get here... We just love this place and want nothing more than to help it thrive and shine like it is meant to... Not in a way that compromises what makes it Bisbee - that unique spirit is what makes it so amazing to be here (you have to visit to understand). There's a magic here that seems somewhat lost somehow, yet it feels like it is on the cusp of finding its way once more. Glad we found our way here to help it all along. So good! Alan surprised me with these homemade parm and Mexican cheese blend cactus-corn nachos! Yes: I said cactus! :) He actually cut up the cactus and corn tortillas we purchased at the Saturday Farmer's Market in Bisbee/Warren yesterday ( $2 for the whole bag! ) then fried them up and topped them with leftover shredded cheese. Not a bad appetizer. Never had cactus before, too, and it is very delicious. (Had a few without cheese and not fried, too. Gorgeous and deliciously hot poblano peppers from a farm in St. David, Arizona - a completely gorgeous area that we wish we knew more about but have only been through once in daylight and twice at night. We picked up about two lbs. of these organic beauties for $2 at the end of yesterday's Farmer's Market in Bisbee/Warren along with other delicious fruits and veggies from the St. David Farm (formerly Goodness Groze Farm). I think we spent $12 and got an insane bounty of goods that will last a good while (including what turned out to be three basil plants). They take Square with purchases of $10 or more and go to both the Bisbee Farmer's Market (Saturdays) and, if I recall correctly, Tucson on Sundays. I'll have to look into them some more, for sure. :) Rough morning today (long story that started at 2:30am, you can see some of it on Leafleur), but here's hoping the rest of the day is better. Today marks 10 years since my hubby and I actually said we were dating, lol, and there used to be a debate in the beginning of which day we should celebrate: the actual first date or the conversation that solidified the relationship? Thanks to manager's specials, clearances, and sales at Safeway and end-of-day pricing at the Farmer's Market... this grass-fed steak, organic veggie, and fresh parmesan and romano dinner cost $6 - not per bowl, for the whole meal which actually will feed two people for three meals. All cooked in one pan (thrift shop find pro cookware, too). Bowl was even clearance and silverware was from the ReStore so this entire meal, including cookware, dishware, and utensils was less than $20 and will last a while.
