Aviapril day 28, Inca tern. The advantage of drawing a bird I've seen many times at the zoo is that I can provide my own reference photos. Convenient! I love the whiskers these guys have, they're so cartoon villain-coded.

I wonder how often this little guy has heard “he looks like he has a mustache!”? 💛
Inca Tern, photos taken by me (2026).
Day 118 of DDD! The inca tern! A bird from South America. They are very easy to identify thanks to their facial plumage. The white feathers growing next to their beaks give them their unique moustache look!

Love this account!
Could I request you type some Phantom Blood characters, please? :) I have some idea of what birds a lot of them could be, but I’d like your typings! Erina and Will Zeppeli to start, maybe?
Tonpetty reminds me of a Himalayan vulture.
Sure! I’ve posted birds for Dio and Jonathan, might as well include Zeppeli and Erina!
I’m split between a Three-wattled Bellbird (middle) and an Inca Tern (right) for Zeppeli. Not sure which one fits him better, but they both have a goofy mustache!
Erina reminds me so much of a Greater Bird-of-paradise… I think it’s her hair?
Phantom Blood deserves more love. I think the art style is very pretty.
Have you seen an Inca tern (Larosterna inca)?
