I really don’t know why a lot of incest in media is only portrayed as “forbidden love” when there’s so much more you can do with it. I guess it’s because a lot of people just don’t get it? 1) Abuse. Most, if not all, of the time, incest is abuse. I do not think I need to explain why abuse is bad.

2) Power imbalance/dynamic: In incest, there's always a power imbalance/dynamic. And don't say there's none between siblings, everyone who thinks just a little bit knows it's just not true.

3) What if they are twins? Well, most of the time, incestphilia is disordered or traumagenic. Like almost all paraphilias. And there is little to no chance that these two siblings actually love each other. They could have been conditioned or just misguided by their paraphilia.

I see some people (nonincested….) get offended when others point out obvious emotional incest happening with their blorbos. I’ve seen specifically people getting mad and saying we should change the name to something non-incest related? Which um…really shows that they think of incest as inherently disgusting. Which, don’t get me wrong, I think it’s normal to think abuse is disgusting. But with incest it’s like the very topic is viewed as such a hush-hush nasty thing, to the point that victims can’t even talk about their experiences without being shamed. My point here is that I don’t think we should change it at all. Relying on a child for emotional support is weird, actually. Especially when you consider that emotional incest can often coincide with covert sexual abuse (non-physical sexual abuse. Maybe some of you should look that up if you didn’t already know about it. Might be helpful. Yes, what you went through was that bad). I really don’t think emotional incest is that far off from sexual incest

People who use the former term might be quick to get defensive about this but genuinely…you’ll talk about how even between relatives close in age there’s usually some abuse or grooming going on and they’ll go “Well…what if…” Okay.
