October 17 ((in character non-cannon))
Jonathan mentioned incidents on the train ride east in his journal yet decided to not elaborate. This is because things were, almost entirely, in order but for one evening in Vienna. When the train stopped we had about half an hour to get off the train to stretch our legs. I wish we had had more time to wander the city outside the train station but alas we had to be on our journey where timing is so critical.
When I had finally convinced the professor I was well enough to get off with the train with them, it was sunset, we walked out to a small food stall. I was uninterested in the food as is usual now. I was there to see the life of a city so full of arts and culture. I spun around in wonder, fascinated by the large windows facing the orange sky. I tapped Jonathan's shoulder to point out a particularly interesting piece of architecture but when he turned around he looked in horror to something at my side. I had not noticed the creature's approach.
A very large wolf-dog was right beside me, looking up expectantly like I had something for it. For some reason, I felt no fear. Maybe I was too tired. I treated it like any other dog and said to it, "I am sorry dear, I have nothing for you". It seemed to understand me and ran off back to its owner, a shockingly tall and beautiful girl who looked at me with curiosity. She smiled before another woman walked up beside her and dragged her off onto a different train.
When we got back on the train, the sun was set and the world was once again dark. I fell into my usual half resting state but I could hear Jonathan muttering to the other men about wolves and lovely tall women.
Apparently, the case was not interesting enough to record but I was quite entertained. I suppose I felt a morbid type of interest in my own state. Could the wolf-dog understand me or was it my tone? Did it feel some energy or think I had food in my hands? I do not know.
